It's time to tell my story

It's time to tell my story

Across 7 seasons, I've had the privilege and the honour of talking to some amazing people, from so many different fields and walks of life.  They come on the podcast to share their story, and so I thought it was time to share mine.
I started Live Well Be Well to encourage us to share and communicate with each other, and I hope that by sharing my story with you, I'll encourage you to do the same.
On today's episode, I open up about my childhood, my career, how I got into modelling and the highs and lows of that journey, my battles with health and in particular, my experiences with loneliness.
The theme of Mental Health Week is loneliness, so I thought it was timely to tell you about my own encounters with this often overlooked issue.
It was slightly terrifying to record this, I have to be honest - I've been contemplating whether to record it, yet alone put it out and go live, but unless we start talking about our own personal stories, we never come together to help one another.
For season 8 of the show I've also introduced a new exciting element: video! I'll be interviewing our guests live on video to complement the podcast, so if you prefer watching a vlog to listening to the show, or you want to have both, you now can. Head over to my YouTube channel Be Well Collective to watch today's video.
I can't wait to share this with you, so I hope you enjoy.

How Liz Earle built one of the UK's biggest independent beauty brands

How Liz Earle built one of the UK's biggest independent beauty brands

Liz Earle has revolutionised the wellbeing sector. Her brand has forever changed the connection between beauty and health.
I had the privilege of sitting down with Liz to discuss her journey to becoming an entrepeneur in the early days, juggling motherhood, and coming full circle to focusing on her brand and the wellbeing side.
I remember growing up with my Mum using Liz Earle products, and I always remember the emphasis on natural beauty care that they brought, for the first time, to the centre stage.
For more than thirty years, Liz has remained a respected and award-winning authority in the world of beauty, natural nutrition, health and wellbeing. She is dedicated to sharing her knowledge as a broadcaster (having started her TV career on ITV’s This Morning in 1989, she’s still a contributor to the show), writer and trusted household name, as well as being a best-selling author with a range of lifestyle titles and a multi-brand founder.
Liz opens up about the trials and the tribulations of building a beauty empire, and how she got to where she is today.
Liz Earle is a champion of women’s health, media influencer, author of 36 books, TV presenter, podcast host and charity-founder. She is also on a mission to help women celebrate every stage of their lives – especially that all-important second half.
    This week's sponsor:
Hu Kitchen, a brand who I first fell in love with when I lived in Manhattan, New York.
If you haven’t heard of HU before, they are relatively new to the UK, bringing their chocolate goodness here in the last 6 months.
If you love chocolate like me - you are in for a treat! Hu kitchen are fairtrade and organic so it’s nice to know that you’re supporting a business that cares both about its consumers and where they get their ingredients from.
At the moment it’s only available in Whole Foods and Planet Organic but you can buy it online at hukitchen.co.uk and they’ve given me a discount code BEWELL20 for 20% off.

From Premier League to premier health: Thomas 'Hal' Robson-Kanu's route to success

From Premier League to premier health: Thomas 'Hal' Robson-Kanu's route to success

The food we eat isn’t always the magic bullet, but if we don’t eat correctly it can cause destructive effects. Signed at the age of 15 to a professional football contract, Thomas ‘Hal’ Robson-Kanu struggled with persistent injuries in the subsequent years. Robson-Kanu played in the premier league, and internationally for Wales. He battled with continuous injuries, while he watched other players his age progress. After two years of being in and out of hospital, battling serious injuries and hitting dead ends with the healing process, he and his father decided to tackle it themselves. As a nutritionist, I’m forever amazed by the lack of awareness and education around nutrition in the sporting world. Nutrition is one of the main foundation and pillars of performance.
In today’s episode: we explore just how far nutrition can go in its healing power.
This episode is sponsored by Apex Rides - the British smart bike and home fitness app - launched in 2021
They're on a mission to get more people exercising.  Because as a company, they believe life is better with exercise.
Apex is the most accessible Smart Bike out there - with rides created for all levels & moods - and the bike available from £15 per month with Klarna.
The Independent newspaper and the Telegraph recently both voted Apex the best exercise bike available in the UK.
Use code ApexCollective for 10% off the bike.  Offer available until end August 2022.

Diets to let go of in 2022, with Giles Yeo MBE

Diets to let go of in 2022, with Giles Yeo MBE

It is time to break up with diet culture and stop trying to chase the ideal cure.

Diet companies and influencers capitalise on our system beliefs that there is a quick fix.

With the diet industry thought to be worth $60 billion, alongside an 80% failure rate, there is a lot of misinformed information.

To help you navigate the truth in what will help you lose weight and optimise your health, I speak to Cambridge geneticist and obesity expert, Dr Giles Yeo.

    Are your teeth ageing you?

    Are your teeth ageing you?

In 2020, the UK women’s skincare market was worth £1.4bn – a sure sign of our eagerness to stop the effects of ageing. Yet when it comes to our teeth, are we taking as much care?
Tooth decay is one of the most common health problems in the UK. Over half of adults in the UK have one or more decayed or damaged teeth. Over half (nearly ¾ of) children aged 8 to 15 years have some tooth decay in their teeth.
To help us navigate the do's and don'ts, I speak to Harley St Dr Richard Marques.

    What is Eco-Anxiety?

    What is Eco-Anxiety?

Climate change is the greatest threat to global health in the 21st century, so much so, that some people are making the decision to not have any children for the fear of where our world is heading. Well known celebrities such as Cate Blanchett speaks openly about suffering with Eco-Anxiety and has even launched a podcast surrounding it. So what is Eco-Anxiety? To help me explore this I speak to Anouchka Grose, who is a psychoanalyst who has written a book on exactly this.
