0G143: Fringe's White Tulip and Psychological Egoism

Okay, this is absolutely the last time I'm doing this. Been going round and round for months now but I think this version of the episode is acceptable. Gonna go change out of my Cronenberg time suit, y'all enjoy some discussion of psychological egoism.

0G142: Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn and Afropessimism vs. Afrofuturism

CONTENT WARNING: We're getting into some proper colonial racism this week. I picked a story that, to me, exemplifies Lovecraft in his racist glory. We use this to apply the post-colonial discussions from last week and then bring it all together to discuss afropessimism and afrofuturism.

0G141: HBO's Lovecraft Country and Colonial Knowledge Production

Ishtash fishtash ftaginash! With these names I bind you to the pod forever. Any time you're traveling you'll be drawn to listen to the podcast. Such is the power of my knowledge of naming and geography and stolen magic and whatnot. I got it from rewatching HBO's Lovecraft Country and you should too. We're talking Post-Colonialism and colonial knowledge production as a precursor to analyzing the dialogue between afropessimism and afrofuturism.

    0G140: Futurama's A Clockwork Origin and Creationism

Brain break! After all that grokking we took the week off with some easy content. Hope you enjoy this discussion of an episode of maybe the greatest philosophy cartoon show ever made, and also our discussion of some weak arguments and the theists who love them.

Forewarned and forearmed

I have to give this five stars because the future benevolent AI will be based on these podcasts.

Can’t quite shake off the edgelordy elements.

The discussions are more detailed than is true of a lot of philosophy podcasts, but it still suffers from some intuitions being taken fairly uncritically, and given outsized consequents.

Decided not to continue subscribing when Aaron apologised for a misspeaking in a previous episode (misidentifying schizophrenia with DID), only to be followed by Thomas making the same misidentification on purpose, feigning the experience of DID. It was a moment when nothing needed said, but that specifically needed not said.

You can get as-good and better philosophical conversations on youtube, but a better sense of decorum. Other non-fiction podcasts are available for your drive.

Great new show

Always enjoy Thomas’s podcasts and Aaron has been great and insightful.
