Realised I’m a fan and not an academic in Spidey

I have a long love with Spider-man. I’m a 41 year old doctor in psychology. One of my earliest memories was a Christmas present of a bed quilt with Spider-man fighting the Green Goblin.

I grew up watching the 90’s animated series - having to wake up every Saturday morning to watch the new adventure. I replayed ‘Dr Dooms Revenge’ on my 8-bit pc again and again....

But for some reason, when I was young, I never got ‘into’ or knew about the comics. Perhaps it was the the small Lancashire town I grew up in not having the shops: but I was oblivious to the deep history behind the characters.

Until of course I was much older and the internet opened much more of this tale up for me (for better and worse)...

Around 3 years ago I found the podcast, and since this time I’ve been hooked. Devouring as many of the episodes as I can, on my way to and from work (and getting strange looks as I chuckle on the train)...

It’s listening to the members that I realise I still knew almost nothing about Spider-man, other than the basics. These guys are professional academics of Spidey!

The show is great. Genuinely funny. Passionate. Informative. Sometimes foul mouthed, always intelligent.

If you have a love of Spidey, you should be listening to this podcast.

This is a very entertaining podcast. All members are very funny are most are massively knowledgable regarding Spidey. The only member that is not as informed as the others is Ashley but she is hugely charming and intelligent. Being the newest and youngest member she has lots of material to look back on and experience. She is a great addition to the team.

This podcast gets lots flack for being negative and receives a great deal of backlash for this. The guys are just passionate about Spider-Man and are only expressing their opinions about the state of things as they see it. It's opinion. They never state that others have to think this way or agree. I do not always agree with the opinions expressed but so what. It would be boring if we all thought the same way. That's why this is such a great listen.

We get a great deal of variety in what they all record.

The brilliantly blunt JR gives us some great insight in 'Spider-History' where he teaches us about a particular month in Spidey's published history.

The Fiery George gives us 'Fight Night' in which he commentates on a fight that Spidey has had with one of his rouges. These are very entertaining. Hearing George talk about his favourite Villian, the all powerful Stegron, is a delight. ( please do the first Morlun fight dude )

We get reviews, news, spider-jeopardy and more.

Everyone contributes to this wonderful Podcast and the very pleasant Kinpin in charge, Brad Douglas, keeps it all in check and seems like a great guy. Zach and Mike also seem like cool guys.

I would love to sit down and have a chat with these guys because between them there is a Spidey encyclopaedia. I could loose hours.

Many thanks guys

Oh by the way. Ashley should read Mark Millar's Marvel Knights Spider-Man for some good Black Cat.
