Welcome to the exciting fifty-second episode of the 2000 AD Thrill-Cast Lockdown Tapes!

We're just hours away from the launch of the brand nee audiobook adaptations of some of 2000 AD's greatest stories! Penguin Random House's full-cast adaptations of Judge Dredd: America, Judge Dredd: The Pit, Sláine: The Horned God, The Ballad of Halo Jones, and Brink land on Audible and selected other venues on 4 March 2021.

On this episode of the Thrill-Cast we welcome two of the producers on the series, Chris Thompson and Kate MacDonald, who chat about the challenges of turning comic books into audiobooks.

We then hear from Pat Mills about the origins and influences of Sláine, on Irish mythology, and how the Celtic barbarian broke the Conan mould, before we chat away to Dan Abnett and INJ Culbard about Brink, and how the audiobook adaptation has dovetailed with some of the decisions they made about the comic strip.

In his new memoir - King's Reach: John Sanders' 25 Years at the Top of Comics - he reveals, for the first time, his story and that of the medium that would go on to dominate global culture. Thrill-Cast host Molch-R sat down with John to talk more about his unique perspective on the heyday of the old British comics industry, the personalities he worked with, and the battles he fought.

The Thrill-Cast is back for 2021 - and we begin with the first episode of an epic two-part interview with the legend that is Kevin O'Neill!

Banned by the Comics Code Authority in America, Kevin's work is unmistakeable - an burst of feverish, even deranged imagination filled with monstrous aliens, mutants, robots and grotesque humans. Utterly unique in comics, his work has maintained an iconoclastic intensity that has no match.

In this first episode, the artist behind Nemesis the Warlock, Ro-Busters, ABC Warriors, Metalzoic, Marshal Law, and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen takes your host Molch-R through his life and career, from an office boy on Buster in the 1970s to his industry-shaking work with Pat Mills in the 1980s.

Tune in in two weeks' time for episode two!

Future Shocks have been a staple of 2000 AD since 1977, when writer Steve Moore pioneered the short comic book story with a sting in the tail that have seen legendary writers such as Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, and Neil Gaiman hone their craft into the pages of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comics.

Now, those classic stories are gaining new life in a series of new podcast interpretations from some of the most exciting new and established talent in audio drama. This has always been a great podcast but the recent “lockdown tapes” run of podcasts has really upped the game as well as the frequency.

The Galaxy's Greatest Podcast

2000 AD is well known as the Galaxy’s greatest comic, but this aural feast can easily lay claim to being the Galaxy’s greatest podcast. It is fascinating, insightful, intelligent and funny, and essential listening for any fan of the comics as well as for anyone interested in a career in comics.

Molch-R is a brilliant host and excels at getting the best from his guests, so subscribe and enjoy the ride. Borag Thungg!

Insight into The House of Tharg

Been listening for ages and really love the Thrill-cast, for the wide and varied folk and features from 2000AD that it covers. But it's been the episode covering the announcement of the TV show that's finally got me putting finger to keyboard.

A brilliant couple of interviews by Molch-R with some obviously passionate, proud and fiercely talented folk. If I was excited about the idea of the TV show before I'm really stoked for it now!

Thank you!
