    249. The Life Mastery Method Part 4: Your Nervous System Is Not the Enemy

Before you hit "play," make sure you've listened to Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 of the series! How often do you find yourself in a stress state—highly activated, reactive, and overwhelmed—when it comes to a certain area of your life? My guess is that when this happens, you don’t like how you feel and wish you could feel differently. But that activation is a signal that there’s something in your life you need to pay attention to, and learning to understand your nervous system can become a powerful tool for creating change. This episode is the fourth in my 6-part series teaching you the Life Mastery Method. So far, we’ve explored whether change is possible, learned how to interrupt patterns that keep you stuck, and talked about the importance of your emotional world. Today, we’re turning our attention to the nervous system and how it shapes the way we work toward change. Because your nervous system is not the enemy; it’s an essential part of moving you towards growth. I've also created a companion worksheet to help you follow along with this episode, which you can download here. Instead of assuming that every uncomfortable activation needs to be regulated away, I invite you to get curious about what your nervous system is trying to tell you. There is a difference between a stress response that needs support and an alert that something in your life isn’t aligning with your needs and values. Learning to make this distinction can help you better understand your patterns and practice responding rather than reacting when challenging situations arise. Your nervous system is the backdrop of all your thoughts and feelings, and it’s working constantly to keep you alive, protect you, and help you navigate the world around you. I’m so grateful for my nervous system, and I hope that by the end of this episode, you will be too. There are two more parts left in my Life Mastery Method series, so make sure you tune in next week when we talk about action strategies that actually work. What you’ll learn: Why your nervous system isn’t the enemy and how healthy sympathetic activation can actually mobilize you to take actionThe difference between the old brain and the new brain: one is designed to prioritize survival while the other gives you the ability to plan and problem-solveHow to use discernment when your nervous system is activated by asking whether your response is coming from past fears or alerting you to a real problemHow building nervous system resilience can make it easier to access and understand your emotionsWhy practicing the ways you want to show up can help turn positive behaviors into automatic patterns over time You can read the full show notes here. 248. The Life Mastery Method Part 3: Your Emotional World is the Key to Real Success

Before you hit "play," make sure you've listened to Part 1 and Part 2 of the series! If you've ever tried to think your way out of your emotions, you already know it doesn't work. Instead, you end up closed off and disconnected, not just from what you feel, but from your deepest intuition and inner knowing. When you truly get to know your emotional world, the mindset shifts you've been seeking finally become possible. This episode is the third in my 6-part series teaching you the Life Mastery Method. First, we explored the question: Can people really change? Can someone who repeats patterns over and over truly transform their life? The answer is yes, and last week we focused specifically on interrupting patterns that keep you stuck. Today, we’re talking about all things emotions, because understanding your emotional world is truly the key to better relationships and the life you want to create. I've also created a companion worksheet to help you follow along with this episode, which you can download here. We'll explore what you may have learned about emotions growing up, how a lack of emotional support can shape the way you navigate life today, and why so many people become disconnected from their emotional world. I'll also explain why your emotions provide clarity about what you want, what you need, and why you're stuck. Your emotional world has the power to transform your relationships, your wellbeing, and the way you experience life. That’s why understanding your emotions makes lasting change possible. Come back next week for Part 4 of the Life Mastery Method series as we dive into the nervous system. What you’ll learn: The language of your emotional world and how messages like "you're too sensitive" or "just stay positive" can shape your relationship with emotionsHow emotional neglect can lead to coping strategies that keep you disconnected from yourself and a book to help you learn more about itAn example that illustrates how avoiding your own emotions can limit your ability to support the people you loveWhy emotional development is crucial for growth and why just thinking differently doesn't workFour questions to ask yourself that will help you stop fighting your feelings and start building self-trust You can read the full show notes here. 247. The Life Mastery Method Part 2: Mind Mastery and the Power of Interrupting Patterns

Before you hit "play," make sure you've listened to Part 1 of the series! You've probably heard that changing your thoughts changes your life. But what if your thoughts aren't actually where change begins? There’s no doubt that mindset work plays an important role in coaching, but lasting transformation starts by interrupting the patterns beneath your thinking. This episode is the second in my 6-part series teaching you the Life Mastery Method. Last week, we explored the question: Can people really change? Can someone who repeats patterns over and over truly transform their life? The answer is yes, and this week, we're focusing specifically on interrupting those patterns that are keeping you—or your clients—stuck. I've also created a companion worksheet to help you follow along with this episode, which you can download here. Our brain, emotions, nervous system, and behaviors all live in patterns, and some of the biggest changes in ourselves and in society come from interrupting those patterns. I see it in the women I work with who are prioritizing their well-being, changing relationship dynamics, and stepping into greater financial independence. I see it in the men I work with who are allowing themselves to cry and fully experience their emotions. Changing patterns is possible, and learning to interrupt the patterns that no longer serve you is one of the missing keys to the greater experience of life we're all craving. Today, I'll walk you through four different ways to interrupt your patterns so you can experience more peace, greater alignment with your values, and a deeper sense of who you are and your worth. Next week, we'll go even deeper into the emotional side of the Life Mastery Method and discover why learning to work with your emotions is one of the most powerful ways to grow. You can read the full show notes here. What you’ll learn: The way I teach mindset work and why it's likely different from what you've encountered beforeHow patterns aren't inherently negative and why strengthening healthy patterns is part of growthWhy mindset work and pattern interruption are connected, but why mindset alone isn't enoughWhy using thinking to avoid your feelings keeps you stuck and how to interrupt that patternHow life mastery isn't possible unless we learn to connect with our emotional selves Listen to the rest of the Life Mastery Method series: Part 1 episode + worksheet Connect with Molly Claire Master Coach Training Application Open Get the book: She Rises: Insights and Wisdom from the Women of The Masterful Coach Collective Molly's Website: MollyClaire.Com Have a question or thoughts about the podcast? 246. The Life Mastery Method Part 1: Can People Really Change?

Can people really change? It's a question we've all asked. Whether you've watched someone repeat the same self-sabotaging patterns, or you've struggled to transform your own life, there are times when real, lasting change can feel impossible. This episode is the first in my 6-part series teaching you the Life Mastery Method, and the first thing I want you to know is that change is possible. Anyone can change their life for the better, including you, and today we’re exploring what that really means and the circumstances needed for change to happen. I've also created a companion worksheet to help you follow along with this episode, which you can download here. Change doesn't come from mindset alone, even though your thoughts are an important part of the process. Lasting change happens when you understand your mind, emotions, nervous system, and how they all work together. Transformation can feel difficult because we often focus on changing our thoughts without realizing that our emotional world and sense of safety play an equally important role. This is just the beginning of the journey, and I can't wait to dive deeper into the Life Mastery Method over the coming weeks. Let's get started! What you’ll learn: A meaningful conversation I had with my son that reminded me why lasting change is always possibleHow the Transtheoretical Model views change as an ongoing process rather than a single eventWhy understanding your emotional patterns and nervous system is a powerful part of transformationHow your relationship with yourself is the most crucial piece of creating changeWhy your environment matters more than willpower when it comes to lasting change You can read the full show notes here. 242. Nervous System Regulation Doesn't Need to be Complicated with Dr. Kathleen Kelley

When people think about stress management, it’s often through the lens of “getting rid of stress.” But stress itself isn’t the problem, and in many ways, it actually helps move us forward. The problem is staying stuck in stress all day long without giving your body moments to recover. Learning how to bring yourself back to center before overwhelm takes over is essential, and it starts with nervous system regulation practices you can easily do every day. My guest today is Dr. Kathleen Kelley, a professor of physical therapy, board-certified neurological clinical specialist, certified yoga and meditation teacher, and life coach. She draws on her extensive experience and education in her coaching practice, helping busy clinicians and high-achieving professionals use simple regulation tools to feel more grounded, calm, and in control of their nervous systems. In this episode, we discuss Dr. Kelley’s many practical nervous system regulation techniques, why stress release matters more than avoiding stress altogether, and the connection between regulation, emotions, and creating intentional change in your life. This conversation is an invitation to notice how often you give yourself moments of pause, care, and reconnection throughout the day, and to consider how you may be able to give yourself more. The key to a more spacious life is practicing these small moments of regulation and self-connection one day at a time. Let’s get started! What you’ll learn: Simple nervous system regulation tools and techniques that can be used on the flyWhy nervous system regulation happens through small moments of reconnecting with yourself throughout the dayHow taking care of yourself helps you feel better while also modeling regulation for othersThe neuroscience behind why dysregulation cuts you off from clear thinkingHow manifesting works as a combination of attention, intention, and aligned action that primes the nervous system You can read the full show notes here. About Dr. Kathleen Kelley Dr. Kelley is a professor of physical therapy at Quinnipiac University. She has taught neurologic rehabilitation, balance, falls, and vestibular dysfunction. Currently, she teaches both gross anatomy and neuroanatomy. Dr. Kelley received her BS in physical therapy from the University of Connecticut, her MS in neurology from Boston University, and her Doctorate in education from the University of Sarasota. She is also a board-certified neurological clinical specialist (emeritus), certified yoga and meditation teacher, and a certified Life Coach. Dr. Kelley’s passion for neurology, brain health, wellness, and self-care led her to dive deeply into the neuroscience of stress, stress management, and best practices for brain health. Dr. Kelley applies modern neuroscience to develop practical tools for regulating the nervous system for both educators and clinicians. When not teaching, you can find Dr. Kelley on her yoga mat, walking her beloved rescue dog Corkey, or knitting while watching reruns of Star Trek.
