As their pilgrimage lengthens and the river’s mysteries deepen, the two acolytes find themselves under threat from a police manhunt, but also come into conflict with the weirder gods that have flourished in these forgotten rural territories.

A plot that takes no prisoners
The very best podcast I have listened to in a decade of enjoying the medium. The actors are tremendous in their emotional range, the soundscaping paints a vivid picture of where the action’s happening and the plot is relentless as it pushes forward, taking no prisoners.
Worst thing about this show is that it’s raised my standards so high I’m having trouble finding something else to listen to now I’ve caught up!
friends and family are bored of me yelling at them to listen to this
i cannot recommend this show highly enough, to anyone who has the stomach for some excellently crafted horror. the writing and world development are second to none, the voice acting is excellent literally across the board, and the sound design is a perfect balance of immersive without being distracting.
i almost didn’t want to listen to season 2 when it came out, because season 1 was already one of my favourite stories and i didn’t know how it could live up, but it absolutely did.
cannot wait to see where this goes next season. phenomenal work.
Superb
I love this show. Maebh de Brun is so very good. Carpenter now lives inside my head (as an audio-only play it gets in close to you so much more). Yep. It’s all so imaginative, so many scenes have sunk in deep to my bones.
