Commonwealth Gold to 70.3 with Jodie Stimpson

Commonwealth Gold to 70.3 with Jodie Stimpson

Jodie Stimpson did her first triathlon at age 8, and went on to a massively successful career on the short course, winning 2 commonwealth gold medals and was a 4 x World Triathlon Series winner. She has now moved up to the 70.3 middle distance triathlon, and has already notched up wins and iconic races.
Claire and I got to chat to Jodie about the challenge of moving up to the longer distances, the iconic races she is targeting given her more flexible race selection and missing out on the Olympics, something she worked so hard for and came so close to.

Desert Racing and Relationships with Elisabet Barnes

Desert Racing and Relationships with Elisabet Barnes

Having won races like Marathon Des Sables, the Oman Desert Marathon and the Big Red Run in Australia and setting multiple course records, Elisabet Barnes was an accomplished ultra-runner by anyone's standards; but why, having grown up in Scandinavia, has she achieved her success in the desert?
Elisabet retired from ultra-running during the pandemic and is an ultra-coach, but she has added a new (and very different) string to her bow by qualifying as a sexologist and is aiming to help people transform their relationships and upgrade their sex lives!
Claire and I wanted to get to the bottom of the secrets to succeeding at desert races, how to make a living from running, and how endurance sport affects our relationships.

First Out of the Water with Jan Sibbersen

First Out of the Water with Jan Sibbersen

Jan Sibbersen broke the Kona swim record in 2018, recording an incredible 46.29 at age 43, many years after being first out of the water at his first race there. With German national swim team experience, he embraced triathlon initially in the off season, but it soon became his passion.
After multiple Kona appearances, he went on to manage a young promising Ironman athlete by the name of Patrick Lange! He also decided to step away from the corporate investment banking world at set up his own wetsuit brand, Sailfish, which now sponsors many top athletes from around the world.

Claire and I wanted to chat to Jan about 'the energy of leading the race', how to choose the right wetsuit and how triathletes can improve their swim race times.

The Hormonal Edge with Dr Nicky Keay

The Hormonal Edge with Dr Nicky Keay

Dr Nicky Keay is a leading expert in endocrinology, having gained extensive clinical and research experience in hormones and their impact on the human body. She has focused much of her research on both athletes and dancers and has done a lot of research on how what we eat affects our hormone balance, and how this not only impacts our performance in sport, but also our long-term health.
So, Claire and I got the chance to chat to Dr Nicky about the impact of hormonal balance on our sport, how we can test and improve it to maximise our results, and also the hidden side effects of under fuelling in our training.

    Marvellous Mimi with Mimi Anderson

    Marvellous Mimi with Mimi Anderson

Mimi Anderson is one of the world’s most inspirational female distance runners, having made an incredible journey from stay-at-home mother of three to multiple Guinness World Record Holder.
Mimi has taken part in extreme races around the world, running across deserts, mountains, enduring the freezing temperatures of the Arctic, the heat and humidity of the Peruvian jungle and the extreme heat of Death Valley in America - setting course records, World Records and, on occasion, beating the men!
Mimi has shown that it’s never too late to fulfil your dreams and achieve the impossible, so I wanted to chat to her about bringing the family into the endurance challenges, grieving the loss of ultra-running and fuelling her adventures in light of her previous eating disorder.
