WITH LOVE, DANIELLE

Danielle LaPorte

A one woman show about self-realization from Danielle LaPorte, a member of Oprah's Super Soul 100 and creator of The Desire Map. How do you create a spirituality that's more rock n' roll than oppressive, turn your anxiety into power, and live more deeply but lighten up? Danielle keeps it practical while riffing on the divine—from compassion and self-help fatigue, to sex, joy, and serving the world. She is, as Eve Ensler describes, "a force field of energy, wonder, humor, and love", and her authenticity will have you feeling a little less crazy, full of possibility, and clearly part of the solution.

We're All Being Initiated, All of the Time

You got small so you could learn how powerful you truly are. Every relationship, every betrayal, every "what was I thinking" moment… it's not punishment. It's a form of modern initiation. You are not behind. You're being initiated. You've loved people who didn't love you back the way you deserved. You've stayed longer than you should have. You've given the benefit of the doubt—and then wondered why you did. In this episode, Danielle shares a personal story—raw, funny, honest—about a dating app exchange that challenged her standards. What if every relationship that confused you, every situation that blindsided you, every "what was I thinking" moment wasn't punishment—but initiation?  If you've ever questioned your discernment after a hard experience. If you've done the work and still wonder why certain things keep showing up. If you want to know that you can trust yourself again… Press play. Why cutting cords doesn't work

There's a better way to let go. I feel somewhat urgent about this conversation. I want to save you from the potential harm and grief that cutting cords can create. You cannot let go of something that you are aggressively trying to let go of. It's like gripping and shaking something that you actually want to put down. I learned this the hard way during a breakup. I did what I was told: invoke the energy, cut the cords. But the visual I had was all these cords being severed, still dangling off each of us. Raw. Hostile. A little bit violent. I still had healing work to do to integrate those manky tendrils hanging off me. It just didn't feel good. For the majority of our angsty, unpleasant entanglements, cutting cords makes things messier than they need to be. Here's the physics: What you push away pushes back and grows stronger. What we embrace transforms us. This is blessing and releasing, and it's what makes for a clean exit. Listen in for some wisdom that I'm throwing down from my new book Bless & Release. And then we're doing the Centering Practice together... Not for someone you've been wanting to cut cords with, but to heal the wounded part of yourself that feels you need to cut cords in the first place. How big of a problem do you want to make this?

Winning answer: Not that big I read an interview with Madonna who said that when people came into her home in LA and they saw her Frida Kahlo collection of paintings, if they didn't like Frida Kahlo, she couldn't be their friend. If I'm hanging out with somebody who turns non-problem problems into problems… I mean, I can still be their friend, but I just don't really wanna hang out with them. Here's the sticky question that changes everything… How big of a problem do you want to make this? The obvious answer is always going to be, like…  Not that big of a problem. Problems don't change until you change how you relate to them. (When we bless them.) We can't control the circumstances in our lives, but we can choose how we think about them. If storms and fires are the work of the Divine, so are flat tires and breakups. All of it is a blessing (even if it's in disguise). Problems become portals when we get excited about transforming them. Where everyone else sees a roadblock, we can be like, guys… it's a secret passage to higher consciousness. Listen in for an excerpt from my new book Bless & Release. Spoiler: The book is funny. That's all I want. Well, it's not all I want. It's what I want the most. What happens when you become a Super Blesser

Your capacity to forgive will amaze you What happens when you become a Super Blesser? In today's episode, I'm telling you about a music festival and an ex-partner's mistress. Not mine. Someone in my community. I have her permission to tell this story… A blessing is your focused positive intention. And blessing is the most excellent situation medicine response for balancing your nervous system. When you start working with your heart's intelligence, your whole way of living will shift for the better. You will stop obsessing. No more mental replays of that conversation from months or years ago. Your creativity will surge. You will stop managing other people's emotions. All this worrying about other people burns through our own energy reserves. We manage other people's emotions out of fear—fear of loss, rejection, or just having the same old argument again. It's exhausting. When you filter your emotions through your heart, you build emotional resilience. And your capacity to forgive will amaze you. Picture this: You're getting ready to rock out at a music festival with your girlfriends. And you run into the woman—the mistress—who broke up your marriage. The kind of confrontation moment that could make you freeze. But something's different now. Listen in for an excerpt from my new book Bless & Release. Hear about Gina's Super Blesser experience at that music festival—and how she used The Centering Practice to choose dancing instead of drama. Dreams, divorce and birthdays

A peek into my journals Today I'm giving you a sneak peek into my  Bless & Release journal. I'm talking about some divorce. I'm talking about some manifesting. It's really a celebration of owning my shit. …I was sitting at my desk, crying as I googled how to overcome heroin addiction. Except I've never tried heroin. I don't even drink coffee. I was trying to let go of divorce pain. The rumination—the mind looping—felt addictive. So I did the most radical thing I could think of. I did a 21-day Centering Practice for my former husband. There were no skipping days. Prior to that, I had been going out of my way to keep him off my doorstep. But now I was going to hold him in the cave of my heart with unconditional love. And it was really hard. And then it was awesome. Love is so easy. We tell ourselves all these stories about how hard it is. Love itself is not hard at all. It's electric, it's alive, it's perfect. I transmuted a hella heap of pain, and that was my closure. I didn't need any additional closure. I didn't need a conversation. I didn't need more therapy. Listen in for real entries from my journal…plus manifesting on the seawall, blessing my son on his birthday, and what softening actually means.
