Este capítulo reforça a importância e o poder da imaginação da criança. Conhecemos o Pequeno Príncipe pela primeira vez. Uma aparição no meio do deserto, ele pede para o aviador desenhar uma ovelha. Sem saber desenhar uma ovelha, o aviador desenha a única coisa que ele sabe desenhar: o seu Desenho Número Um. E o Pequeno Príncipe entende imediatamente o desenho! Ele não quer um elefante numa serpente, ele quer uma ovelha! O aviador tenta, mas o Príncipe exigente não fica satisfeito com os desenhos do aviador. Então, sem paciência, o aviador desenha uma caixa, dentro da qual, explica o aviador, o Príncipe vai encontrar exatamente a ovelha que ele deseja. E é exatamente o que acontece! O Pequeno Príncipe fica feliz com sua ovelha, que reside totalmente na imaginação do pequeno viajante interestelar.
