    Will introducing 10% reservation bill for poor upper castes save 119 seats of BJP? #QuotaBill

    On Monday, the Modi cabinet raised the heat amidst the winter session of parliament underway by clearing 10% reservation for the economically weaker upper castes. The cabinet decided to amend the Constitution so that the “economically backward” upper castes will get 10% reservation in direct recruitment in government services and admission to higher educational institutions. Lok Sabha, on its last day of winter session, passed this Reservation Bill with a 2/3rd majority. The upper house of the parliament, Rajya Sabha is debating the reservation bill today. The proposed reservation will be over and above the existing 50 per cent reservation enjoyed by the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and the Other Backward Classes, taking the total reservation to 60 per cent. The upper caste Hindus are its core vote banks. Thus, this move was being seen as Brahmin-baniya vote bank motivated.     Meghalaya rescue operation for 15 miners continues on the 16th day

    With time running out to save 15 miners trapped inside a 370 foot illegal coal mine in Lumthari area of Meghalaya since December 13, the state Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said the state government has written to the Coal India seeking their special pumps and equipment to aid the rescue of these 15 miners. The Indian media which sensationally highlighted the recent Thailand cave excavation of young football team, sadly has failed to pressurize the Central government about this rescue operation which has entered its 16th day. This issue has only gained pace after a major leader of opposition citicised the prime minister on social media. Unlike the case of Prince the boy who got stuck in a borewell in Kurukshetra district of Haryana, which attracted a lot of mileage both from media and the political fraternity.. but this case seems to have taken a back-foot, probably because it happened in one of the states of the seven sisters. So this shows that unless a popular face from the opposition party does not take the matter to the forefront, the case of Meghalaya or any such issue will only seems to be hanging in..
