Popular podcast calls evangelicals “cancer”

Jennifer Welch was an Oklahoma City-based interior designer and reality show actress before launching a podcast in 2022. Titled “I’ve Had It,” her podcast now has 1.5 million subscribers on YouTube and 4.5 million followers across social media. Welch claims that “evangelical Christianity is the biggest racket on the planet” and repeatedly uses the epithet “cancer” to describe us. In all things, we must remember that we are not “culture warriors” for whom people like Jennifer Welch are our enemies, but cultural missionaries for whom they are our mission field. Person detained in Nancy Guthrie search, then released

A man was released after being detained in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, even as the FBI released video of a masked person outside her door the night she vanished. In other headlines, seven people were found dead in a shooting at a high school in British Columbia, with additional victims discovered at a nearby residence. Such tragedies remind us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” and that the “will to power” has marked human nature from Jefferson and Lincoln to today. The Seattle Seahawks won yesterday’s Super Bowl LX over the New England Patriots with a dominant defensive performance. You probably already knew the result of the Super Bowl. I would not necessarily expect the same if I were writing about the World Series, the Kentucky Derby, the Masters, or any other headline sports event. But NFL football and its championship game hold an unrivaled place in our culture. As I am reflecting on this fact today, I am also wondering why it is so. Ransom note received for Savannah Guthrie’s mother

Savannah Guthrie has withdrawn from hosting the 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony to focus on her family. As you know, her mother, Nancy Guthrie, has disappeared in Tucson; police believe she was taken against her will in a “possible kidnapping or abduction.” Ms. Guthrie’s disappearance is tragically not unusual in the US. In addition to abductions, elder fraud and abuse are epidemics, as hundreds of thousands of adults over the age of sixty are abused, neglected, or financially exploited each year. It’s been said that the way we treat people is the true measure of our character. As we’ll see today, this is both bad news and good news. The choice is ours. Do you wish death were obsolete? Punxsutawney Phil, longer lifespans, and the providence of God

Article Description For those who are ready for winter to be over, the bad news is that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow yesterday, predicting six more weeks of polar vortexes and misery for millions. He’s not, however, the only forecaster in the news today. The National Center for Health Statistics is reporting that US life expectancy has hit an all-time high. According to “Vitalists”, humanity has an “incredible moral duty” to “extend lifespan indefinitely.” While they admit that there is no current way to make death obsolete, that’s their goal.
