Dr. Gabor Maté: Constantly Worrying What People Think of You? (THIS Simple Shift Will Help You Trust Yourself and Stop Seeking Approval)

In this special live conversation at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver, Canada, Jay sits down with renowned physician and trauma expert Dr. Gabor Maté for a deeply moving exploration of identity, healing, and the hidden patterns that shape our lives. Gabor explains that our obsession with how others perceive us often begins in childhood, when our fundamental need to be seen and understood isn’t fully met. In response, many people unconsciously adapt, hiding parts of themselves or becoming who they think others want them to be in order to feel accepted and loved. In this episode you'll Learn: How to Stop Living for Others’ Approval How to Break Generational Trauma Patterns How to Know If You’re Living Your True Life How to Stop Tying Your Worth to Productivity How to Recognize When Stress Is Hurting You How to Listen to Your Inner Voice Again How to Start Saying “No” Without Feeling Guilty How to Practice Self-Compassion Instead of Self-Criticism How to Turn Your Past Coping Patterns Into Healing How to Ask the Question That Changes Your Life Real change doesn’t come from forcing yourself to be perfect or trying to fix everything overnight. It begins with small moments of awareness, pausing long enough to listen to that quiet inner voice, asking honest questions about what feels true for you, and giving yourself permission to honor it.  With Love and Gratitude, Jay Shetty JAY’S DAILY WISDOM DELIVERED STRAIGHT TO YOUR INBOX Join 900,000+ readers discovering how small daily shifts create big life change with my free newsletter. Layered within the sound is an ultra-slow left-right frequency separation (≈ 0.08 Hz), inspired by binaural beat methodology 🎧. Instead of producing a pulsing effect, this creates a barely perceptible tide-like drift 🌊—a gentle, natural movement that adds depth without drawing attention. The result is a smooth, immersive environment that feels stable, spacious, and easy to rest with over long listening sessions. If You Feel Uncomfortable In New Social Situations, Listen to This (7 Science-Backed Shifts That Make Conversations Feel Easy)

Jay explores a moment many of us know all too well, walking into a room full of strangers and instantly feeling small, anxious, or out of place. Instead of assuming something is wrong with you, he reframes it through what’s actually happening in the brain. In those moments, your brain shifts into protection mode. It starts scanning for social threats and triggers a stress response. When that happens, the very things that help you connect, what to say, how to be yourself, how to feel at ease, can suddenly feel harder to access. What we often call awkwardness or insecurity isn’t really about who you are, it's your nervous system doing its job, trying to protect you from rejections. Jay then reframes social confidence in a powerful way: connection isn’t about impressing people, it’s about helping them feel comfortable around you. He shares seven practical shifts, like arriving with intention instead of expectations, calming your nervous system, staying genuinely curious, and focusing on the first few moments of interaction, to show that authentic presence is far more magnetic than charisma. Research shows that people are drawn to those who make them feel heard and understood, and the simple act of asking thoughtful follow-up questions can dramatically increase likability and connection. Instead of trying to be the most interesting person in the room, the real secret is becoming the most interested. In this episode, you'll learn: How to Calm Your Nervous System Before Social Events How to Make People Feel Safe Around You Instantly How to Make a Powerful First Impression in Seconds How to Position Yourself to Meet More People Naturally How to Make People Feel Heard and Valued If social situations have ever made you feel anxious, awkward, or unsure of yourself, remember this: nothing is wrong with you. Your brain is simply doing what it was designed to do, protect you. What people truly respond to is presence, curiosity, and the feeling of being genuinely seen.  With Love and Gratitude, Jay Shetty JAY’S DAILY WISDOM DELIVERED STRAIGHT TO YOUR INBOX Join 900,000+ readers discovering how small daily shifts create big life change with my free newsletter.Subscribe here: https://news.jayshetty.me/subscribe  What We Discuss: 00:00 Intro 02:44 Do You Feel Anxious in New Social Settings? 05:47 #1: Replace Expectation with an Intention 08:07 #2: Be the First to Provide a Safe Space 11:42 #3: Stop Trying to Be Interesting & Be Interested 15:02 #4: Master the Art of the First Ten Seconds 18:16 #5: Use the Power of Proximity and Positioning 21:15 #6: Give People a Role 23:58 #7: Leave Before You're Done 26:27 Social Confidence Isn't About Impressing People See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jahnavi: How to Create Inner Calm When Life Feels Overwhelming (THIS Simple Daily Practice When Your Mind Won't Stop!)

Today, Jay sits down with longtime friend and Grammy-nominated devotional artist Jahnavi Harrison for a deeply personal conversation about faith, creativity, and living a life of service. Together, they reflect on spiritual grounding as a daily practice, not rooted in perfection but in the ability to remain steady through uncertainty and change. Jay and Jahnavi explore the often unseen journey behind purpose-driven work, how passion gradually becomes discipline, and discipline shapes a life of devotion. They unpack the courage it takes to walk a less conventional path, especially in a world that often values conformity and external validation. Through stories of growing up between two worlds, wrestling with self-expression, and finding healing through music and mantra, they invite us to reconsider success not as achievement, but as alignment. As the conversation unfolds, their focus turns to prayer, service, and staying connected when you feel lost. Jay and Jahnavi share why speaking to God, serving others, and creating space for vulnerability can become powerful anchors during difficult seasons. Ultimately, this conversation reminds us that spirituality isn’t about having everything figured out, it’s about showing up with sincerity, listening deeply, and choosing to give, even when the path ahead is unclear. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Find Peace Through Sacred Sound How to Stay Grounded When Life Feels Overwhelming How to Turn Doubt Into a Deeper Faith How to Express Yourself When You Feel Invisible How to Trust Your Intuition Over External Pressure How to Integrate Spirituality Into Everyday Life How to Reconnect With Purpose Through Service How to Talk to God in Your Own Way You are allowed to take your time, to find your voice in your own way, and to choose a path that feels meaningful rather than impressive. Healing and purpose don’t come from perfection, but from showing up sincerely and trusting that what you offer with love will return in its own time. 6 Protocols to Find Meaning and Build a Happier Life

Pre-order The Meaning of Your Life (out March 31). This is the final episode in my 3-part series on meaning, and it begins with a question I couldn’t ignore when I returned to campus five years ago: why do so many successful, driven people feel anxious, depressed, and lonely? In this episode, I share three real-life stories from my new book, The Meaning of Your Life. These stories reveal what’s missing—and why the problem isn’t a lack of enjoyment or satisfaction, but rather the third macronutrient of happiness, meaning.  I finish by sharing the six protocols from my book to help you move beyond distraction and build a more meaningful life in six months. If you want to go deeper, I hope you’ll consider the book. — Brought to you by: Noble Mobile—With Noble, there is only one plan: The No-Bull Plan. It’s simple. It’s transparent. Jay’s Must-Listens: Making Friends as an Adult Is Hard! (8 Powerful Lessons on Building Friendships That Last) Ft. Trevor Noah and Mel Robbins

Friendship can feel effortless when we’re young, but as life grows busier and our paths begin to diverge, maintaining meaningful relationships becomes far more complex. Today, Jay brings together powerful conversations with a group of insightful guests to explore why adult friendships change and what it truly takes to build connections that last. Together, these perspectives reveal that friendship isn’t something that simply happens, it’s something we intentionally create and nurture over time.  Mel Robbins explains why friendships often become harder after our twenties, describing the “great scattering” that happens when people move in different directions and life timelines begin to shift. Andrew Huberman explores the science behind connection and why simple habits like checking in with someone or asking deeper questions can help us feel more seen and understood. Robin Sharma reflects on the idea that a few truly meaningful friendships can be more powerful than a large social circle, encouraging us to focus on relationships that bring joy, growth, and mutual support.  Trevor Noah shares how his closest friends help anchor him through the loneliness of touring and remind him who he is during difficult moments. Marianna Hewitt talks about the importance of protecting your energy and choosing friendships that leave you feeling energized rather than drained. Together, these conversations remind us that real friendships aren’t defined by how often we see someone, but by the depth of trust, acceptance, and connection we create with the people who truly matter.  In this episode, you'll learn: How to Build Meaningful Friendships as an Adult How to Reach Out to Friends You’ve Lost Touch With How to Build a Support System That Truly Lasts How to Maintain Friendships Even When Life Gets Busy How to Strengthen Your Circle With Small Daily Habits Real friendships are built through small moments, checking in, being present, listening without judgment, and showing up during both the joyful and difficult times. When we make the effort to reach out, to be vulnerable, and to be present for the people around us, we create connections that can carry us through every stage of life. The Lost Girls of ADHD: Inattentive in Girls and Women

Why is inattentive ADHD so often missed, especially in girls? In this episode, Emily Kircher-Morris is joined by Cynthia Hammer, author of Living with Inattentive ADHD and founder of the Inattentive ADHD Coalition. Cynthia shares her personal journey of being diagnosed at age 49 and her late-life mission to ensure the next generation of girls doesn't have to wait decades for answers. The two discuss the subtle clues of inattentiveness, the overlap between ADHD and autism, and how perfectionism often serves as a high-stakes masking strategy that leads to adult burnout. They also talk about the Big Sisters for ADHD Girls initiative, and the importance of early screening. It's a call to action for parents, educators, and clinicians to look past the surface and support the authentic neurodivergent self. TAKEAWAYS Inattentive ADHD isn't hard to see; rather, society hasn't been trained on what to look for. It's been suggested that some girls begin masking as early as age three. While masking helps girls fit in socially, the cognitive load of playing a role often leads to severe burnout in adulthood. Perfectionism is frequently used as a coping mechanism to avoid the rejection sensitivity that comes with ADHD. There is a significant overlap between inattentive ADHD and autistic traits, particularly regarding sensory processing and social cues. A diagnosis provides a vital framework of self-empathy, replacing the labels of "lazy" or "unmotivated" with a biological explanation. Because ADHD is highly genetic, a child's diagnosis is often the first step in recognizing neurodivergence across the entire family tree. A reminder to sign up for a live 90-minute training workshop Emily will be presenting for parents, educators, and clinicians on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 12:30 PM Eastern, 9:30 AM Pacific. She joins with Elizabeth Sautter to provide a neurodiversity-affirming framework that helps kids and teens build real emotional regulation and resilience without shame, pressure, or power struggles. If you can't join live, a recording will be available shortly after the presentation ends. Register here. Cynthia Hammer, MSW is an advocate, author, and nonprofit leader dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of Inattentive ADHD. Diagnosed at age 49 in 1992, she has spent decades working to amplify the voices of individuals whose ADHD often goes unseen and misunderstood. Cynthia is the author of Living with Inattentive ADHD and the founder of two nonprofit organizations, ADD Resources and the Inattentive ADHD Coalition. She currently leads the FINDtheADHDgirls initiative, a project focused on identifying and supporting girls and women whose ADHD has been overlooked. Through her writing and advocacy, Cynthia continues to expand recognition and access to support for those with inattentive ADHD. The Real Reason You Can't Stop Self-Sabotage | Dr. K

Dr. K, the Harvard-trained psychiatrist known for his work with gamers and high performers, drops a truth that reframes everything: your negative identity isn't a flaw — it's your mind's attempt to protect you from failure. Most people go through life trying to upgrade from a loser identity to a winner identity, never realizing that both are traps that warp how you see reality. If you've ever wondered why motivation disappears the moment a goal feels out of reach, or why doing everything right still leaves you feeling empty, this conversation answers it in a way that actually makes sense. Dr. K breaks down the neuroscience of why you can't control your thoughts, why goals can secretly fuel procrastination, and why the most powerful thing you can do happens entirely inside your head. By the end, you'll see that the path to real change isn't about believing harder or wanting it more, it's about understanding how your mind actually works and learning to respond differently to what it generates. Dr. K’s book How to Raise a Healthy Gamer: End Power Struggles, Break Bad Screen Habits, and Transform Your Relationship with Your Kids Healthy Gamer Website Healthy GamerGG Podcast Healthy Gamer Youtube In this episode you will: Discover why your negative identity is protecting you and why trying to eliminate it is the wrong move Understand the critical difference between being capable of something and believing you can do it, and why confusing the two keeps people stuck Learn why goals can actually kill your motivation and what to focus on instead Recognize that you can't control your thoughts, only how you respond to them, and why that distinction changes everything Apply Dr. K's framework for processing setbacks without letting them collapse your sense of self For more information go to https://lewishowes.com/1909 For more Greatness text PODCAST to +1 (614) 350-3960 Follow The Daily Motivation for essential highlights from The School of Greatness More SOG episodes we think you’ll love: Lewis Howes Solo [Create Lasting Motivation] Dr. Caroline Leaf MrBeast Get more from Lewis!  Get my New York Times Bestselling book, Make Money Easy!
