  • MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY: The KEYS to a Meaningful Life (Love, Faith, Family & Turning Failure into Growth)

    1

MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY: The KEYS to a Meaningful Life (Love, Faith, Family & Turning Failure into Growth)

Matthew McConaughey didn’t build his life by trying to control every outcome. He built it by learning when to let go and when to trust. Today, Jay sits down with Matthew for a raw, unfiltered exploration of purpose, faith, discipline, and what it really means to live well. It’s an honest conversation about the moments that shape us, and the choices that quietly define who we become. Together, they move through certainty and surrender, ambition and presence, effort and trust. Matthew opens up about his lifelong relationship with achievement and his growing desire to create space for stillness, daydreaming, and reflection. He shares how writing became a way to strip away filters and speak more directly to his truth, and how fatherhood reshaped his understanding of responsibility, humility, and love. Jay and Matthew explore failure as a sign of growth, and how disappointment when met with self-awareness, can teach rather than define us. Together they reveal a powerful insight: growth doesn’t come from trying to perfect ourselves, but from learning how to stay present, curious, and grounded through every season of life.  Matthew reflects on the balance between taking responsibility and letting go, between striving for excellence and accepting imperfection. He shares why he believes the world is conspiring to make us happy, not through ease, but through meaning, effort, and alignment. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Trust Life Without Losing Control How to Redefine Success Beyond Achievement How to Learn From Failure Without Shame How to Build Trust Before You Need It How to Stay Present Without Chasing Perfection How to Strengthen Love Through Daily Intention How to Find Meaning When Answers Aren’t Clear Life isn’t asking you to be perfect, it’s asking you to be present. To stay curious. To keep learning. To choose courage over comfort and intention over autopilot. No matter where you are right now, progress is still possible, meaning is still available, and your next step matters. Why Less Sleep Can Be Better For Your Health | Whoop Founder

WHOOP founder Will Ahmed shares how recovery, not effort, became the key insight that reshaped how we understand elite performance and health. From working with the world’s best athletes to building one of the most influential performance companies, Will reveals what truly separates the best from the rest. How can someone like LeBron James handle back-to-back max strain days and still wake up fully recovered? Will also breaks down what that tells us about sleep, consistency, and the foundations of sustainable greatness. He opens up about the unseen challenges of entrepreneurship, trusting your intuition, facing hundreds of investor rejections, and holding conviction when doubt and data collide. Will challenges the traditional approach to health, explaining why annual check-ups are broken, why preventative care should feel aspirational, and how continuous feedback can improve performance without obsession.  This episode is all about recovery, resilience, and building systems, in business and life, that allow you to perform at your best, day after day. MEL ROBBINS: How to Stop People-Pleasing Without Feeling Guilty (Follow THIS Simple Rule to Set Boundaries and Stop Putting Yourself Last!)

Jay is joined on stage at Boston’s Wang Theatre by his longtime friend Mel Robbins, in front of a packed live audience. Their shared history allows them to speak openly and honestly about the pressure to be liked, the fear of being misunderstood, and how easily we lose ourselves trying to meet other people’s expectations. Mel’s superpower is her ability to choose herself in moments when giving up or staying small feels safer. Mel shares the hard truths she’s learned about self-criticism, people-pleasing, and why waiting to feel “ready” keeps us stuck. Jay reflects on how constantly judging and fixing ourselves pulls us away from our inner life, and why real growth starts with awareness and self-respect. Mel also talks about how many of her biggest changes came from desperation, not confidence, and Jay reframes jealousy, fear, and failure as signs that something meaningful is trying to emerge. In this episode, you'll learn: How to Stop Letting Other People’s Opinions Run Your Life How to Quiet Your Inner Critic When Stress Takes Over How to Unlearn the Self-Criticism You Were Taught Growing Up How to Stop Waiting to Feel “Ready” to Start Living Your Life How to Break the Habit of People-Pleasing Without Guilt How to Use Jealousy as a Clue Instead of a Curse How to Keep Going When Desperation, Not Confidence, Is Driving You Life doesn’t change all at once. It changes when you choose to speak to yourself with kindness, honor your needs, and take the next step even when you’re afraid. Ep 4: Understanding AuDHD: Traits, Truths, & Lived Experience

Send us a text 🎙 Episode 4: Understanding AuDHD: Traits, Truths, & Lived Experience  “When I’m told I’m lazy or unmotivated, I start to believe it — and that belief becomes part of who I think I am.” In this episode of AuDHD Psych, Aaron and Uma explore what AuDHD can look like beyond stereotypes and diagnostic labels. Aaron shares his lived experience as an AuDHD clinical psychologist, unpacking why ADHD and autism were historically seen as mutually exclusive, how this has shaped diagnostic practices, and why many people have had parts of their neurodivergence misunderstood, minimised, or overlooked. The conversation examines co-occurrence, diagnostic bias, categorical versus dimensional thinking, and the importance of self-understanding — whether through formal diagnosis or self-identification — as a foundation for meaningful, affirming support. Takeaways: - ADHD and autism frequently co-occur, even though they were historically excluded from being diagnosed together - AuDHD presentations can mask or complicate how characteristics are recognised and supported - Diagnostic systems often miss nuance, particularly when relying on rigid, categorical frameworks - Understanding both strengths and difficulties leads to more effective and affirming support - Identity, diagnosis, and self-identification should be guided by individual goals and needs Keywords: AuDHD, ADHD and autism, neurodivergence, co-occurring diagnoses, self-identification, diagnostic bias, lived experience, neurodiversity-affirming practice, mental health stigma, clinical psychology, ADHD awareness, Lived Experience Support the show Keywords: AuDHD podcast, autism and ADHD, neurodivergent psychologist, neurodiversity affirming, Howearth Psychology, queer psychologist, autism diagnosis, ADHD awareness, lived experience, neurodivergent mental health, clinical psychology podcast

BOTH Parents Overdosed within Hours of Each Other...How ESPN Reporter Lauren Sisler Finally Faced the Truth about her Family and Created a Beautiful Life

This week, we sit down with ESPN reporter and former Rutgers gymnast Lauren Sisler, whose story is as heartbreaking as it is inspiring. In 2003, Lauren lost both of her parents within hours of each other to fatal fentanyl overdoses—a devastating truth she was too ashamed to share at the time. For years, she told friends and teammates that her parents had died of heart failure and respiratory issues, hiding from the stigma of addiction. It wasn’t until seven years later that Lauren began to face the truth, and a full decade before she opened their toxicology reports. In this powerful conversation, Lauren shares how she found the courage to peel back the layers of shame and grief and embrace what she now calls the “Shatterproof Mindset.” She opens up about the path to forgiveness, the resilience born from tragedy, and how learning to fall in love with her own story has allowed her to honor her parents’ memory while helping others find healing in theirs. If you’ve ever struggled with grief, shame, or the fear of telling your truth, this episode will show you that even the most shattered stories can become unbreakable.
