Dr. Ramani: If You're Thinking About Going No Contact With a Family Member - Listen to THIS (How to Know If It's Time To Walk Away)

Some relationships leave us questioning whether love is enough to stay. In this conversation, Jay sits down with Dr. Ramani to explore the painful reality of family estrangement and the growing number of people considering no contact with those closest to them. Together, they unpack the difference between self-protection and punishment, why guilt often accompanies healthy boundaries, and how years of unresolved hurt can lead someone to step away from a relationship they once fought hard to save. Rather than offering simple answers, this episode invites a deeper reflection on safety, repair, accountability, and healing. It challenges the belief that family ties should come at the expense of your well-being and reminds us that choosing yourself is rarely easy. Whether you're navigating a difficult relationship, supporting someone who is, or trying to understand a loved one's decision, this conversation offers compassion, clarity, and the reassurance that healing doesn't always look the way we expect. In this episode you'll learn: How to Know When No Contact Is Necessary How to Stop Abandoning Yourself for Family How to Recognize When Repair Isn’t Working How to Handle Guilt After Going No Contact How to Protect Your Peace Around Toxic Relatives How to Navigate Family Pressure and Backlash How to Choose Self-Protection Over Self-Betrayal Not every relationship is meant to be kept at the cost of your peace. Sometimes healing means repairing a connection, and sometimes it means creating distance from what continues to hurt you. Emilie Kiser EXCLUSIVE: The Loss That Changed Her Forever

Emilie Kiser sits down with Jay for her first in depth conversation about the loss of her son, Trigg, and what life has looked like in the months after. Emilie speaks candidly about grief, guilt, marriage, motherhood, and the pressure of navigating tragedy while also  living publicly online. Instead of trying to offer perfect answers, this episode focuses on the reality of surviving something life-altering one moment at a time. The conversation also shines a light on the importance of pool safety, prevention, and the measures that can help protect families from unimaginable loss. Emilie opens up about therapy, boundaries, support systems, and the reality that grief doesn’t disappear, it becomes something you learn to carry. It’s a deeply honest conversation about love, accountability, healing, and finding a way to keep living after life changes forever. In this episode you'll learn: How to Live Alongside Grief How to Support Someone After Loss How to Set Boundaries Online How to Grieve Together as a Couple How to Protect Your Children Better How to Heal One Day at a Time How to Show Up for Your Family in Pain Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. Strength doesn’t mean pretending you’re okay. The Neuroscience of Identity: Why You Keep Repeating the Same Patterns | Emily McDonald

Your brain is making choices for you before you even realize it. Neuroscientist Emily McDonald, known as Emonthebrain, studies how your identity, nervous system, and subconscious programming quietly run the show. Most people think they're choosing. Research shows the neural pattern of a decision lights up in a brain scan before you're consciously aware you've made it. That's the gap Emily spent years learning to close. She grew up with clinical depression, ADHD, anxiety, and a victim mindset baked in by illness and circumstance. She wasn't looking for a life philosophy. She switched her major to neuroscience because it sounded cool and got a 100 on her first exam. What she found changed everything. The science she uncovered is this: your brain holds a model of who you are in the default mode network. It uses that model to predict your thoughts, behaviors, and choices on autopilot. If the model says you're someone who struggles with money, or fails at relationships, or can't focus, your nervous system quietly steers you toward confirming that story. The identity is the destiny. Shifting it means more than positive thinking. It means identity anchors, environment, the people around you, the habits encoded in your body. Emily calls it identity shifting, and she coaches people through it by asking a deceptively simple question: do you have a to-do list or a to-be list? Most people have never sat down to ask who they're becoming, only what they're accomplishing. This conversation will rewire the way you think about why you keep falling back into old patterns, how affirmations can actually work against you, and what neuroscience actually says about the law of attraction. Emily's Website Emily's Instagram Mindcraft Coaching Program In this episode you will: Understand how the default mode network stores your identity and drives your choices below conscious awareness Learn the identity shifting process Emily uses with coaching clients to break subconscious patterns holding them back Discover why affirmations backfire and how to use forward motion and dopamine to make them actually work Explore the neuroscience behind the law of attraction and why you attract what your nervous system is wired for, not what you want Understand how ADHD medication, dopamine dependency, and addiction cycles form in the brain and what it takes to rewire them For more information go to https://lewishowes.com/1935 For more Greatness text PODCAST to +1 (614) 350-3960 Follow The Daily Motivation for essential highlights from The School of Greatness More SOG episodes we think you’ll love: Dr Joe Dispenza Dr. K Dr. Sue Morter TOPICS Emily McDonald, neuroscience, identity shifting, default mode network, neuroplasticity, law of attraction, subconscious reprogramming, ADHD, dopamine, limiting beliefs, nervous system alignment, victim mindset, Emonthebrain Get More From Lewis! Evolution Designed Your Senses to Hide Reality | Donald Hoffman

Every time you open your eyes, you're not seeing reality. According to the mathematics of evolution, you never have. Donald Hoffman is a cognitive scientist and professor who has spent over 40 years building mathematical models of perception. His book The Case Against Reality makes one of the most unsettling arguments in modern science: your senses didn't evolve to reveal the truth. They evolved to hide it. Think of your body, your thoughts, your memories, and your entire experience of this world as a VR headset. Not a metaphor. A working model backed by mathematics. The headset gives you exactly what you need to play the game of life. It hides what is actually running underneath. Consciousness isn't a product of the brain. It's the other way around. Neurons don't exist when no one is looking. Nothing in your behavior is caused by neural activity. What's actually driving your life is something science is only now beginning to map. The way out isn't more information. It's a practice. The silence between your thoughts? That's you. When you learn to watch your emotions instead of becoming them, the grip of every story you've been telling yourself starts to release. The Shift From Self Improvement to Self Mastery

Have you done all the work and still feel empty? Are you stuck in endless self-improvement with nothing to show for it? What if you’ve been asking the wrong question all along?   In this episode of A Really Good Cry, Radhi breaks down the crucial difference between self-development and self-mastery, and why chasing growth without inner depth can leave you feeling perpetually broken. Drawing on ancient wisdom from the Bhagavad Gita, this episode shifts the conversation from “how do I improve myself?” to “who is the self I’m actually trying to improve?”   Rather than giving you another checklist, Radhi explores how true fulfillment comes from transforming your relationship with yourself, not just your behavior. From ego awareness to emotional regulation to desire management, this episode gives you the inner framework to stop being controlled by your reactions, impulses, and need for validation.   In this episode, you’ll learn: Why self-development alone can trap you in a cycle of feeling perpetually unfulfilled. What self-mastery actually means and how it differs from discipline or willpower. How to observe your emotions without being run by them. Why detachment doesn’t mean not caring, and how to release outcomes without giving up. Four daily practices to start moving from self-development into self-mastery. Growth isn’t just about what you build. It’s about who’s doing the building.   Follow Radhi: https://www.instagram.com/radhidevlukia/ https://www.instagram.com/areallygoodcry/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxWe9A4kMf9V_AHOXkGhCzQ https://www.facebook.com/radhidevlukia1/ https://www.tiktok.com/@radhidevlukia See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

7 Things to Tell Yourself Every Morning (Follow This Simple Morning Reset to Calm Your Mind Before the Day Begins)

Today, Jay shares how, before we even get out of bed, our minds are already filled with worries, quiet anxieties, and thoughts we didn’t choose. Instead of intentionally creating our day, most of us unknowingly inherit stress from yesterday. Drawing on both modern neuroscience and ancient wisdom traditions, Jay reframes the morning not as a routine, but as the foundation of our mental “operating system”, a critical window where our thoughts shape how we experience the next 16 hours. Rather than relying on empty affirmations, Jay offers a more grounded, evidence-based approach rooted in how the brain actually works. He explains how our minds are most programmable in the early morning, when emotions are heightened and our critical thinking is still waking up. This creates a rare opportunity to interrupt automatic patterns, reset our focus, and consciously direct our attention before the world begins to pull us in different directions. In this episode you'll learn: How to Take Control of Your Mind First Thing in the Morning How to Stop Inheriting Anxiety Each Day How to Rewire Your Thoughts in Minutes How to Protect Your Attention Early How to Measure Your Day with Purpose Not Productivity  Every morning is a quiet reset, an opportunity that doesn’t ask for perfection, only intention.
