    EP 5. Post-Election Reflections

In today’s episode we dive into our post-election reflections. It’s been a few months since the re-election of Donald Trump as President and we have lots of thoughts, reactions and reflections. The biggest one being why would someone vote for Trump? This episode is dedicated to processing these events, communicating what we’ve seen, and sharing our thoughts on the matter. Using the bible as our foundation we are still struggling to see how so many people of faith have idolized this man.  While we don’t want this to be a rant, that won’t exclude us from authentically sharing our emotions, concerns, and observations. We are human; make space for grace.  What we’re going to cover: Initial reactions and how we feel now Why would someone vote for Trump? Why did so many vote for him? A look at the numbers Conversations we’ve had with people Identity politics Pro-life, the economy, immigration, Christian values oh my! Deep dive into the spiritual aspect of the leaders we vote for Spirit of Error: 1 John 4:1–5 False doctrine, twisted truth and spiritual half-truths.  The rise of Christian Nationalism Non Christians perception of God  Scriptures referenced  1 John 4:1–5: Spirit of Error Galatians 5:19–21: Fruits of the Flesh:  Galatians 5:22–23: Fruits of the Spirit Matthew 7:15–20: True and False Prophets Matthew 5:3–12: The Beatitudes If you enjoyed this episode please subscribe, share and follow us on instagram at @thebreakbreadpod

EP 4. Politics, principles and people

In today’s episode, we dive into one of our favorite topics: Politics. It’s crucial to seek the Lord’s heart and Word when it comes to any topic, especially one as controversial as politics. Which is why our intention with this episode was not a focus on endorsing a candidate or party (we didn’t mention any candidates names at all, actually), but to explore Biblical principles on politics. Here, we take a deep dive into servant-leadership, the political parties during Jesus’ time, and what are the principles that we are called to uphold as followers of Jesus.  What we’re going to cover  Everything is political.  Politics during Jesus’ time. Law of the Land vs. Law of the Lord. Which do we follow, and when?  How did Jesus show up as a leader?  What do we do when the options aren’t reflective of our principles, values and people? Putting our faith in political representatives vs. God/Jesus Separation of Church and state? Political values are a reflection of our morals and values which oftentimes come from our religion.  The election has passed. What now?  Bible verses referenced (NT = New Testament, OT = Old Testament):  Matthew 12:1-14 (NT) – Jesus broke Jewish law in service of those around Him.   John 16:33 (NT) – We will have trouble in this world.  Matthew 20:28 (NT) – Jesus gave His life as a ransom for many.  Matthew 20:20-28 (NT) – Greatness is serving   Matthew 23:13–16, 23, 25, 27, 29 & Luke 11:37-54 (NT) – Jesus criticizes the Pharisees.   Matthew 16:1-12 (NT) – Jesus warns his disciples against deceptive teachings. EP 2 The end of an era: Tania’s personal story on surrender, obedience and complete trust in God

In today’s episode we talk about Tania’s career journey and when she knew it was time to leave her corporate job of 10 years despite not having another one lined up. This is a personal story of surrender, obedience and complete trust in God when you don’t know what’s next.  Some of the topics covered in this episode are:  Career highs and lows over the past 12 years.  How God opens and closes doors we don't expect.  How God used certain jobs as a vehicle for blessing myself and others.  After 10 years, why now? Being grateful and also honoring the fact that it’s ok to want better.  Feeling stuck.  Adapting to change.  Discerning the shift: how I knew it was time to leave.  Good vs. bad leaders: how faith impacts our leadership.   Inner conflicts: suffering in silence and grieving change while surrendering and being obedient.  Some of the scripture we get into can be found in Proverbs where it talks about revenge, retaliation, dwelling and the four tongues:  Proverbs 25:13  Proverbs 25:21-22  Proverbs 25:27  Jehová Jirah: God is my provider Jehová Nissi: God is our victory Jehová Rapha: God is our healer Jehová Shalom: God is our peace Disclaimer: We know that not everyone is able to quit their jobs without another role lined up, we understand that this is a privilege that not all people have and we honor that.  Are you going through a season of transition, feeling stuck or ready to surrender your plans for God's plans? We want to hear from you and pray for you! Let’s continue breaking bread together.  Connect with us on our instagram @thebreakbreadpod - Tania & Dana
