125 | From Stress to Systems: Dana VanPell's Dance Studio Transformation

In this episode of Dance Studio Owner Life Coaching, Ginger sits down with Dana VanPell, owner of A Step in Time Dance Center in New Jersey. Dana shares what it was like to run her studio feeling overwhelmed, disorganized, and stuck in a constant cycle of stress, and how coaching helped her create more clarity, confidence, and peace in both her business and personal life. With 25 years of studio ownership behind her, Dana opens up about the pressure to keep reinventing the wheel, the challenge of comparing herself to other studio owners, and the mindset shift that helped her trust herself again. She also shares practical changes she has made in her studio, from systems and hiring to costume payments and summer planning, and why support has made such a difference. This conversation is honest, encouraging, and full of reminders that growth does not always mean doing everything differently. Sometimes it means trusting what already works and making thoughtful improvements one step at a time.   About Dana Dana has over 25 years of experience in dance education and has devoted her career to inspiring dancers of all ages and skill levels. She is the owner and studio director of A Step in Time Dance Center, established in 2001. At the age of 16, Ms. Dana was a principal dancer for the New Jersey Tap Ensemble, training under renowned legends such as Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Deborah Mitchell, and Karen Callaway. She furthered her dance education at Mercer County College, focusing on modern dance and ballet. As the founder of ASIT, Ms. Dana has guided countless students from the ages of three through their senior year of high school. Many of her students have gone on to join collegiate dance teams, pursue professional dance careers, and even become studio owners themselves. Ms. Dana is passionate about creating a welcoming and supportive environment where students can advance their technique, express their creativity, build confidence, and, most importantly, discover their love for dance. She remains committed to her own professional growth through online programs, which enhance both her personal knowledge and studio management skills, ultimately benefiting her students. Looking ahead, Ms. Dana is excited to continue guiding the next generation of dancers at ASIT and to share her passion for dance with the community for many years to come.   Join The Leadership Roundtable for Dance Studio Owners by visiting https://thestudioownerlifecoach.com/ Our next cohort begins April 7, 2026

124 | When Your Identity Hasn't Caught Up to Your Goals

What if the biggest thing standing between you and your next business goal is not strategy, but identity? In this episode, Ginger explores the gap between where you are now and the version of yourself required to reach your next level. Whether your goal is higher income, more students, stronger staffing, or becoming debt free, you may be carrying beliefs about yourself that are keeping you stuck. Ginger walks through how studio owners unconsciously label themselves with phrases like "I'm a hot mess," "I'm exhausted," or "I'm always struggling," and why repeating those thoughts can quietly shape your actions, decisions, and results. This episode will help you notice the identity patterns that may be holding you back and begin shifting into the stronger, smarter, more confident version of yourself that your future requires. In this episode, you'll hear: How identity affects your ability to reach big goals Why your future self can feel disconnected from who you are today The hidden cost of calling yourself things like "a hot mess" or "overwhelmed" How repeated thoughts turn into beliefs Why changing the way you describe yourself can change the way you lead A simple exercise to help you identify where your identity gap is showing up How to begin stepping into the role of CEO, director, and confident business owner A key reminder from this episode: You are not the hard season you are walking through. That is a circumstance, not your identity.   Get Coached with Ginger! https://gingerhaithcox.com/
