No one in the media cares.   Opinion: Don’t expect bans on trans athletes in girls’ sports in WA, even with SCOTUS ruling If you’re thinking, hoping or praying the decision will either force the hands of Washington officials to change state law or issue a directive for the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA), save yourself the frustration. It’s not going to happen. The SCOTUS decision actually gives progressive states such as Washington the license to dig their heels in even deeper when it comes to this issue. The state Office of Superintendent of Public Education (OPSI) wasted no time Tuesday in issuing a statement confirming just that. “In West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v. Hecox, the Court upheld the right of states to ban transgender girls from participating in school-based athletics in alignment with their gender identity — effectively also upholding the right of states to allow students to participate in athletics in alignment with their gender identity,’’ the OPSI statement read. “Washington state law has robust protections against discrimination for public school students, which has included discrimination based on gender identity for two decades. These protections fit within the scope of what is allowed by federal law and today’s ruling.’’ “Today’s decision reinforces Washington state’s ability to adopt and implement our own laws in alignment with our values,” said State Superintendent Chris Reykdal. “Our Legislature has been clear: All students are welcome here.” While the Court’s decision does not impact Washington law, Initiative Measure IL26-638, which will be decided by Washington voters this fall, aims to institute a state ban on the right for transgender girls to participate in girls sports. Somali Muslim man running for Congress in Utah literally says his plan to get elected is to use the foreigners that Democrats imported. “Muhammad is trying to power his win by mobilizing Salt Lake City's growing immigrant population”  AOC: I actually think the more important advice that I would give would be to my incumbent colleagues, which is: you will create a self-fulfilling prophecy by deciding who these young women are before you’ve met them. And if you are already panicking and sending little messages in your group chats about how these people need to be reined in, tamped down, and shown their place, you are creating the antagonistic dynamic that we do not need. These are two young, talented, intelligent women who got elected against all odds, against millions of dollars. Perhaps there is something we can learn from them.
