11 Minutes to Change Your Health & Olive Oil Shots: Hype or Health?

This week on The Wellness Scoop, we explore the small shifts that can have a surprisingly big impact on long-term health, starting with new research showing how just 11 extra minutes of sleep, alongside simple daily habits, could meaningfully reduce heart attack risk. We unpack a major shift in the weight loss landscape as GLP-1 drugs begin to fall dramatically in price, and what that could mean for access, demand and how these medications are used globally. We also look at the wider cultural impact already emerging, from changing body ideals to shifts on the fashion runway and some crazy new aesthetic trends.  We also break down new UK guidance on children’s screen time and what it really means for development, attention and sleep, alongside the fast-growing children’s supplement market and why many multivitamins aren’t delivering what parents think they are. Finally, we explore the rise of olive oil and lemon shots, what’s driving the trend, what the science actually says, and whether they’re worth adding into your routine. The Real Reason You Keep Stopping Before You Succeed | Dean Graziosi

He breaks down how to find what truly drives you, build an unstoppable inner operating system, and stop tying your self-worth to your bank account. You will also hear how Dean thinks about raising driven kids in an age of abundance, what Tony Robbins taught him about effective versus efficient leadership, and how to use AI not as a tech trend but as a tool to buy back your time. How to Communicate So People Actually Listen

How many times have you said something, and it didn’t come across the way you meant it to? Today, Jay unpacks why so many of us feel unheard at work, at home, and even in our closest relationships. He shares a powerful insight: communication isn’t defined by what you say, but by how it’s received. Most of us overestimate how clearly we express ourselves, creating a hidden gap between intention and impact. Jay reframes communication as a shared responsibility, reminding us that real connection isn’t about winning arguments, but about being clear, compassionate, and protecting the relationship while speaking your truth. Jay then explores the core principles that help people actually listen, beginning with the ability to regulate your nervous system before you speak. When emotions take over, we react rather than respond, often escalating conflict instead of easing it. He highlights why clarity is more powerful than intensity, and how simple, intentional language fosters trust and cooperation, while emotional overload creates distance. In this episode, you'll learn: How to Communicate So People Actually Listen How to Regulate Your Emotions Before Speaking How to Speak Without Triggering Defensiveness How to Ask Questions That Build Understanding How to De-escalate Difficult Conversations When you focus on being understood instead of being right, conversations become safer, relationships grow stronger, and conflict loses its power. With intention, patience, and compassion, your words can become a bridge, not a barrier, to the life and relationships you truly want. Parenting Expert Emily Oster: The #1 Parenting Mistake That Causes Unnecessary Stress (Use THIS Data-Backed Framework to Debunk the Biggest Parenting Myths!)

Parenting today feels like navigating endless advice while quietly wondering if you’re doing any of it right. Jay sits down with bestselling author and economist Emily Oster to unpack one of the most overwhelming journeys many people will ever face: becoming a parent. In a world filled with endless advice, social media pressure, and conflicting research, parenting can start to feel like a test you’re constantly failing. Emily offers a refreshing, data-driven perspective that helps parents cut through the noise, separating real evidence from the myths that fuel unnecessary anxiety. From pregnancy and fertility to sleep training and screen time, this conversation reveals what truly matters and what parents can finally let go of. Together, Jay and Emily challenge many of the parenting beliefs we’ve accepted without question. They explore why modern parents feel so overwhelmed by information and expectations, when the data actually shows there are many “right” ways to raise a child. Emily breaks down how correlation is often mistaken for causation in parenting advice and how that misunderstanding quietly drives guilt, fear, and comparison. Whether it’s breastfeeding versus formula, screen time, sleep training, or developmental milestones, Emily encourages parents to move away from perfection and toward confident, thoughtful decision-making. In this episode you'll learn: How to Stop Overthinking Parenting Decisions How to Decide What Parenting Advice to Ignore How to Choose the Sleep Strategy That Works for Your Family How to Raise Kids with a Growth Mindset How to Plan Parenting Decisions Before Problems Arise How to Let Go of the Pressure to Parent Perfectly Parenting can feel overwhelming, especially in a world filled with endless advice, opinions, and expectations. The truth is, raising a child isn’t about getting every small decision perfectly right, it’s about showing up with love, care, and intention, day after day. Emily’s book, Expecting Better: Why the Conventional Pregnancy Wisdom Is Wrong--and What You Really Need to Know, offers guidance through pregnancy and motherhood. Grab a copy now. Ep. 85 - What Did Barb Learn from Mud?

In this week’s episode, Barb and Michelle continue their conversation about Barb’s silent retreat and her biggest takeaways, including the life-changing revelation she had during an interaction with mud. Follow us @MichelleMaros and @Peaceful_Barb and share your experiences with us @BarbKnowsBestPod or at  www.michellemaros.com/podcast. Episode Notes: Buddhist tradition teaches there are two types of suffering: Suffering that leads to more suffering. This happens when we fuel that suffering with negative thoughts. Suffering that ends suffering. This occurs when we feel the feelings without letting the mind write stories that are not true.   From this retreat, Barb was able to recognize the deep sense of impermanence and how living in the present is how she can experience real joy.  She learned how she had not truly been caring for herself, not receiving, just continuing to give without refilling her cup.   Compassion Meditation (Repeat to yourself) I care about your suffering. I care about your pain. I care about you.  May you be free from your fears.  May you be peaceful and live with ease.
