The Standards Audit: How High-Performing Women Identify and Close the Gap Between Who They Are and Who They Want to Be | with host Emily Duncan

Last week we made the case for why you're not only allowed, but encouraged, to raise your standards for yourself, especially when it comes to your body. This week we build the practice. Because a philosophy you can't live isn't a philosophy, it's just a nice idea or a cute Instagram pist. In this episode, we're getting into what low standards actually look like in daily life. Not the obvious version, but the subtle, sneaky ways they show up disguised as practicality, selflessness, or just being realistic. The patterns that feel completely normal from the inside until someone names them and suddenly you can't unsee them. From there, I'm walking you through a four-step framework for actually raising your standards in real time. Not all at once, not through a dramatic overhaul, but in the specific, sustainable way that makes a new standard stick long enough to become identity. We're also getting into the concrete behaviors the high-standard woman actually lives by: how she trains, how she fuels herself, how she shows up, how she protects her non-negotiables when life gets hard. Not as inspiration, but as a blueprint.   Interested in a luxury 1:1 online health coaching experience? 2. Why Looking Your Best Is Part of Your Responsibility as a High-Achieving Woman | with host Emily Duncan

Why Looking Your Best Is Part of Your Responsibility as a High-Achieving Woman | with host Emily Duncan

I'm going to say something most people in this space won't: people listen to more attractive people. That's not an opinion, it's psychology. And pretending otherwise doesn't make you more evolved. It just makes you less effective. In this episode, I'm making the case that for a woman with a mission, taking care of how you look and feel isn't vanity. It's stewardship. It's one of the most strategic, impactful, and frankly underrated things you can do for yourself and for everyone you're here to serve. We're getting into the psychology of the halo effect and why attractiveness influences credibility, income, and impact whether we acknowledge it or not. We're talking about the real cost of not being fully present in your own body: the mental real estate, the self-consciousness tax, the way it quietly caps your confidence in every room you walk into. And we're drawing the line between vanity (caring how you look for external approval) and stewardship (caring how you look because you take your life and your mission seriously). Because those two things are not the same. And I think a lot of women have been carrying guilt about wanting to look incredible that was never theirs to carry. If you've ever downplayed how much you care about your appearance because it felt shallow, this episode is your permission slip to put that down and own your desire to be a "full package" woman. — For the high-achieving hot girls that want to recover better, support glowier skin, and promote longevity through better cellular health, get up to 39% off Mitopure Gummies with code EMDUNC and make wellness easier than ever. The 10 Beliefs and Behaviors I Had to Quit to Build the Life I Wanted | with host Emily Duncan

Approaching my 31st birthday, I did a lot of reflecting…and what came up wasn't a list of things I "added" to have some of the most transformative years of my life. It was a list of things I let go of. In this episode I'm sharing the 10 things I had to let go of or quit that had the highest ROI in becoming the woman I am today: someone who feels genuinely incredible in her fitness and her body, her career, her relationships, and her relationship with herself… simultaneously. These aren't abstract concepts. They're the real, specific beliefs, behaviors, and patterns I had to shed so I could become the woman I truly wanted to be. If you're a woman who wants a lot from your body, your career, your relationships, your life, this one is for you. Sometimes growth isn't about adding more. It's about clearing the room so what's next can come in.   This episode is brought to you by AX3 Life. How High-Achieving Women Finally Get and KEEP the Body They Want - The Full Package EP 5 | with host Emily Duncan

We made it to the finale of The Full Package series! So far, we've named the paradox, dismantled false consistency, validated the coaching experiences that let you down, and walked through the real mechanics of strategic training and nutrition. Today we bring it all home. This episode is about what the other side actually looks like… not as a vague inspiration board, but as a specific, real, liveable version of your life. We're going through five before-and-after scenarios that I see play out with my clients over and over. We're also getting into the real timeline of what changes and when: what to expect in each initial stage, where you'll start feeling it before you see it, and when stacked consistency starts producing results that actually hold. And before we close, I'm busting the three beliefs I see keeping the most capable women stuck the longest. And by the end of this episode, I don't think you'll believe them anymore either. If you've been here for all five episodes and you can feel the gap between where you are and who you're describing, this is your sign. Not to think about it more but to do something about it. The decision is the only thing standing between you and her. Episode 300: 9 Years, 300 Episodes & Everything I've Learned About Fitness, Identity & Showing Up | with host Chris Beal and Emily Duncan

300 episodes. 9 years. And for this one, we're flipping the script! Chris is hijacking the podcast and hosting, and I'm in the guest chair for the first time. This felt like the perfect way to mark a milestone of one of my favorite parts of my job. The podcast will turn nine years old this summer, and looking back at who I was when I recorded episode one versus who I am sitting here at episode 300 is… a lot. Chris asks me the questions I usually ask other people, and naturally, it gets deep fast (including some of the most honest thoughts I've probably ever shared about the fitness industry).   Here's what we get into: What I believed about my purpose 9 years ago that was completely wrong, and why I'm grateful it was The shadow side of being "10 toes down" and how bodybuilding taught me to recognize my edge before I fly over it How I transitioned from competitor identity to high-standard lifestyle fitness (and why it took 3 full years) Self-awareness: where it started, how social media criticism shaped it, and the difference between healthy self-questioning and keeping yourself small In-groups and why niche communities are powerful until they forget they overlap The body positivity over-correction that silenced great fat loss coaches and gave the microphone to terrible ones Why fitness professionals who use fat people as clickbait are bad at marketing (and bad at their jobs) The "skinny tok" trend and how over-correction in the fitness space helped it play out in our specific niche Do people actually want to change, or do they want to feel like the kind of person who wants to change? The "chocolate chip in the cookie of the world" and why you don't have to change the world to change lives   First and foremost: thank you. Whether you've been here since 2017 or you just found the show, thank you for making this possible. 300 episodes in nine years. I haven't been perfect, but I've been consistently consistent. And if there's one thing I can encourage you to do: if you have something you love, something you're passionate about, something you think you can make an impact doing, just go do it. It would be an insult to me and however many hours you've spent listening to this show if you didn't. -- This episode is brought to you by AX3 Life. Million Dollar Body Goals with a Part-Time Mindset | with Chris Beal and Emily Duncan

We're back with everyone's favorite guest! Chris is on the show again, and this time we went deep on something we haven't talked about in a while: fitness. Not just the training-and-macros side, but what fitness actually builds in you as a person. Because here's one thing I FIRMLY believe: if you're doing fitness right, it carries over into every other area of your life. Your career, your relationships, your resilience, how you show up when things get hard. This episode is raw, unfiltered, and honestly one of the most real conversations Chris and I have ever had on the show. We get into some hot-take territory: the "halo effect" and why physical attractiveness actually matters for influence, why being offended usually says more about you than the person who offended you, what it really takes to go from "okay" fitness to exceptional fitness, and why most people quit right when things are supposed to feel the hardest. We cover a lot of ground: The underdog benefits of pursuing fitness at a high level, and why it's a crash course in  learning how to overcome hard things Why "it's the challenges you choose that prepare you for the ones you don't" The halo effect: how physical attractiveness unconsciously shapes how people perceive and receive you, and why that's not just cultural, it's in part human nature My experience gaining 70+ pounds from breast implant illness and how people treated me completely differently The difference between wanting the idea of a result vs. wanting it badly enough to change who you are Why social media has warped people's perception of what exceptional fitness actually requires The case for starting with a "sprint" period and how it builds trust, motivation, and momentum Why you can't eat intuitively if your intuition is broken The "million dollar body goals on a minimum wage mindset" problem Identity change: why changing what you do isn't enough, who you are has to change too I also get really personal in this one about my mom… watching her go through cancer, hip replacements, broken bones, and an incredibly demanding job, and still getting up at 4am every single morning to take care of herself at a high level. That's where my resilience comes from. That's the example I had. And I think everyone needs that reminder that even when you can't see the results changing, choosing to make no choices is choosing to go backwards. This one's gonna fire you up. Share it with your group chat, your gym partner, your friend who needs the push. - For the high-achieving hot girls that want to recover better, support glowier skin, and promote longevity through better cellular health, get up to 39% off Mitopure Gummies with code EMDUNC and make wellness easier than ever. Why Women Who "Do Everything Right" Still Don't See Results: Training, Nutrition & Identity Explained | The Full Package EP 4 | with host Emily Duncan

You know "the" woman. You've seen her at the gym, at work, maybe online. Her body is incredible, her career is thriving, she goes out to a beautiful steak dinner and doesn't make a production out of what she orders, and none of it seems to burden her. It just seems like who she is. In this episode, I'm breaking down the real gap between that woman and where you are right now, and it's not genetics, it's not time, and it's not even discipline. It's identity. And identity is built by actions, not the other way around. We're going deep on what it actually means to train strategically versus just work out, including progressive overload, periodization, why 3-4 well-designed sessions will outperform 5-6 days of winging it, and why your training data deserves the same respect as your business KPIs. On the nutrition side, we're getting into why precision isn't punishment, the macro tracking reframe that changes everything (hint: it's a data tool, not a disorder), and the concept I've built my coaching around for over 10 years: the priming phase. If you've been eating less and less and seeing fewer and fewer results, this is the most important thing you'll hear: your body doesn't need a harder deficit. It needs a reset. And that reset starts with eating more. We close with the identity piece, because above-average physiques require above-average actions, consistently, not temporarily. And the women who get and keep their results aren't the ones who suffered the most. They're the ones who decided, at some point, that the woman they wanted to become was no longer optional. If you've been listening to this series and you can feel that gap between where you are and who you want to be, DM me on Instagram. Let's close it. This episode is brought to you by AX3 Life. Why Fitness Coaching Fails High-Achieving Women (And What Actually Works) - The Full Package EP 4 | with host Emily Duncan

If you've invested in fitness coaching (a program, a coach, an influencer's plan) showed up for it 100%, and still didn't get the results you were promised, this episode is for you. Not because I'm here to tell you it was all someone else's fault, but because there's a very specific difference between a process that failed you and a process you didn't commit to… and most women I work with have experienced the former without ever being told that's what happened.   In this episode, I'm breaking down six of the most common bad coaching patterns I see in this industry: shame-based coaching that makes you feel like the problem, programs built around macros and scale weight while ignoring your hormones, stress, cycle, and mindset, cookie-cutter plans that were never actually designed for your life, coaches who simply weren't operating at your level, influencer programs where you never spoke to a single human, and the myth that 24/7 access to your coach equals better results.   We're also getting into what high-level fitness coaching for women actually looks like: a side-by-side contrast that I think is gonna make a lot of things click. Real coaching tracks the full picture: your training, your nutrition, your stress load, your cycle, your sleep, your mindset, and your life. It builds around your specific data, adapts when things change, and holds a standard that actually matches yours. And most importantly: it builds you into a woman who trusts her own judgment completely, not one who needs constant hand-holding to make a decision. That's the goal. Autonomy over dependency.   If this episode felt like someone finally named your experience: DM me on Instagram. I want to hear what landed, and if it feels like a fit, we can talk.   For the high-achieving hot girls that want to recover better, support glowier skin, and promote longevity through better cellular health, get up to 39% off Mitopure Gummies with code EMDUNC and make wellness easier than ever.
