I have always been fond of history, but mostly from the early modern era onwards. I thus had precious little knowledge about anything from the times before ancient Greece, Rome, all that jazz. Not knowing what to expect, I thought I'd give Scott's podcast a listen, and it didn't take long before I was hooked. I first started listening back in, oh, 2015 or so, wanting to build a more solid foundation of knowledge, but not having the patience or indeed time for long books. Scott has one of the best voices of any podcast host I've heard, easily comparable to Mike Duncan. I know, it sounds peculiar to talk about someone having a pleasant voice, but I deem it important, and it's one of the reasons why I've been enthusiastically recommending this podcast to fellow students at my university, giving The Ancient World at least a few new fans in the process.
I have revisited this podcast recently, and it holds up well. It's hard to turn off once you start listening, and it really does give the listener a whole new perspective on the world before antiquity. Can't recommend this one highly enough.
