"If I'm with ten friends and all of us can't get into a space all ten of us will go elsewhere"

Sociability is working towards having a FREE platform to check the accessibility of pubs, bars, cafés - you name it and question all of your requirements at the press of a button. Imagine as a hospitality business having a FREE platform that provides a resource for customers that brings in customers simply by might already exist!

Tech Entrepreneur and Innovator Matt Pierri stumbled upon the idea for his app 'Sociability' after discovering how much of his own time was drained trying to find places to hang out socially for him and his friends, as a wheelchair user, attending Oxford University.

In this Episode of ListenABLE we speak about the importance of recognising disabled voices in the tech space, why disability and business go hand in hand and how a tool like AI that was meant to assist users with disability could be concerning.

As we celebrate 100 Episodes of ListenABLE, Dylan, Angus and Matt reminisce about their previous Podcast recording that never made it to air, a shameless plug about their new studios and the future of Tech & Disability.

As well as possibly the best 'Bowl of Uncomfortable' question we have EVER had!

Great White Shark Attack | ListenABLE moment: Chris Blowes

Great White Shark Attack | ListenABLE moment: Chris Blowes

WARNING: This episode contains detailed description of the attack, injuries and graphic nature of the events of the day.

In 2015 Chris and his two mates went surfing off a notoriously Great White Shark hot spot in Rural South Australia.

They knew the risks, as all surfers do, but the reward of uncrowded line ups and good conditions had them pull on their wetsuits that morning.

Chris is a brilliant storyteller and as Angus describes has you sitting on the edge of your seat as Chris is rushed to the nearest hospital.

Breanna Medcalfe (EC1C2 Incomplete Spinal Cord Lesion | #98

Starting with small practices of advocacy at a very young age, Breanna Medcalfe, 21, is setting out on a journey to educate others and be a young voice for people with disability. Already making waves in medical alum by being a Health Consumer Disability Representative Advocate we were very lucky to have this time with her before her stratospheric launch into high profile advocacy!

Moving from New Zealand to Australia after having a misdiagnosis. Breanna speaks to the support she’s been shown here in Australia including accessible events, horseback riding and mentoring from a previous ListenABLE favourite Dinesh Palipana.

This episode also discusses the importance of a good support worker who in this case is happy to work the night shift in exchange for a good dance floor boogie. Chair users also stick around as Breanna has a trick to keep track of where your friends are when out on the town, and it's more simple then sending a text.

    Ross Chaplin (Guillain-Barre Syndrome) | #97

    Ross Chaplin (Guillain-Barre Syndrome) | #97

"It makes it much easier jamming a crutch in the front door of a CEO office" - Ross Chaplin

At the age of two after being at the hospital at “the wrong place wrong time” Ross Chaplin obtained a "bug" called Guillian-Barré Syndrome leaving him Hemiplegic, no use of his right leg and minimal use of his left arm, and therefore a full and vibrant life on crutches.

Ross is a strong advocate for equality, inclusive design, accessibility as well as the language around disability. Creating property solutions that align an organisation’s current and future requirements is crucial to properly leveraging the resources NFPs have on hand. Ross provide strategies to drive that organisations’ services and growth as well as the detailed analysis to support the execution and implementation at the highest level. S

ince 2010, Ross have been fortunate enough to work closely with a range of NFPs who turnover over between $30 Million to $500 Million per annum. No matter the size of the organisation, the business model must drive the property strategy, not the reverse.

Ross is also a sought after keynote speaker on topics of Resilience as a Person with Disability and Diversity & inclusion. Not only does this episode break down barriers, it busts down the bosses door!

Wait for this moment - When Angus stumps everyone with a street sign in NSW he discovered that Dylan Alcott claims “I have never EVER seen before”
