Rufaro George Kanjere | How We Prepare for What Comes After US Imperialism

In episode 81 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan sits down with George Kanjere, community and union organizer and member of the Red Anti-Imperialist Collective in Australia. Born in Zimbabwe and raised between there and Australia, George traces his journey from the Australian Greens to Marxism-Leninism, radicalized by Aboriginal deaths in custody and the reality of third world conditions inside one of the wealthiest countries on Earth. They discuss what it means to build a revolutionary movement in the imperial core, why anti-imperialist views without domestic power are just "academic vibes," and how organizers must meet people where they are, not demand they come "pre-cleansed" of conservative ideas. George breaks down the Red Anti-Imperialist Collective's strategy: prioritizing First Nations liberation, organizing in women-dominated sectors like education and healthcare, and exposing how Australia's economy is owned by BlackRock and Vanguard. He also reflects on the long transition from capitalism to socialism, the importance of internal party culture to prevent abuse, and why women's liberation is an existential question, not identity politics, for any serious revolutionary movement. Michael Dutton | Why the West Gets Everything Wrong About China

In episode 80 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Professor Michael Dutton, political theorist and China specialist, to explore how China’s revolutionary project reshaped political subjectivity, state power, and everyday life and why Western frameworks fail to grasp it. Formerly a Reader in Chinese Politics and Social Theory at the University of Melbourne and later Professor of Politics at Goldsmiths, University of London, Michael is the author of influential works including Policing and Punishment in China, Streetlife China, Policing Chinese Politics, and most recently The Book of Politics: China in Theory (2024). He traces the formation of his political worldview and examines the central question animating his latest work: what conditions transform people from capitalists into socialists? Drawing from decades of research, he breaks down the methodologies, policies, and psychological shifts that shaped China’s political transformation from Mao’s adaptation of Marxism to the evolution of Communism with Chinese characteristics. Giovani Del Prete | “We Will Coup Whoever We Want”: US Imperialist Escalations in Latin America

In episode 79 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Giovani Del Prete, Brazilian militant of the Movimento Brasil Popular (MBP) and member of the Continental Secretariat of ALBA Movimentos, to unpack the latest wave of U.S. imperialist escalations in Latin America. Giovani draws on his organizing experience across Brazil and the region to explain how Washington is tightening pressure on Bolivia, Colombia, Cuba, and Venezuela as they push toward sovereignty, integration, and a multipolar world. He breaks down the indefinite general strike in Bolivia, the social forces leading it, and how the rise of President Rodrigo Paz reflects a familiar pattern of U.S. intervention against governments that challenge neoliberal orthodoxy. Giovani also examines Colombia’s political crossroads as President Gustavo Petro faces investigations and elite backlash for opposing the U.S. drug war, rejecting sanctions on Venezuela and Cuba, and calling for deeper South-South cooperation. Triploi | Why Australia Can't Break Free from US Empire

In episode 78 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Triploi,  @triploi  historian, content, creator, and host of the Triploi Podcast, to unpack how Western historical narratives are constructed and why they consistently erase the Global South. He traces how a childhood fascination with World War II led him to question the omissions in mainstream history, discover historical materialism, and understand the deep entanglement between colonialism and capitalism over the past 500 years. Triploi explains how this lens reshaped his politics, why so‑called “radicalization” is often just education, and how social media unexpectedly became a platform for accessible political history. He also examines Australia’s position inside the U.S.‑led imperial system, from the 1975 dismissal to today’s alignment with Washington’s China strategy, and why anti‑China narratives dominate Australian media and think‑tank discourse. Triploi has been a fan of history since he was a small child, with a particular passion for 20th century history and the World Wars. But what started as an interest in mainstream history eventually turned into a need to understand WHY things happened. 20+ years of study later, in areas as varied as aviation, sociology, politics (and more history of course) Triploi is determined to not just examine history but question why it is written the way it is, and why the western-centric, capitalist worldview has become so dominant, and what we can do can to fix all the damage it has caused across the globe. Tings Chak | Why Asia’s Militarization Is Central to the US’s Strategy

In episode 77 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Tings Chak, researcher, writer, and Asia Co-coordinator of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research to unpack why Asia has become the central frontline of US strategy. She explains how Washington is rapidly rebuilding a regional military architecture, from new bases in the Philippines and the militarization of Okinawa to arms sales to Taiwan, while countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, and Australia navigate this new Cold War landscape through their own histories, contradictions, and constraints. She also examines the limits and openings of BRICS and South‑South initiatives, arguing that Asia’s militarization reflects a dying world order and underscoring the need for regional, anti‑imperialist solidarity. Dr Jeyakumar Devaraj | Free Trade is a Trap: How the West Keeps the Global South Poor

In episode 76 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Dr. Jeyakumar Devaraj, a Malaysian physician, chairperson of the Socialist Party of Malaysia (PSM), and a lifelong advocate for workers' rights and healthcare equity. Dr. Kumar co-founded Malaysia's only registered socialist party despite a decade of state obstruction and served two terms in parliament. They discuss how liberal Christianity shaped his socialist worldview, the lost spirit of the Non-Aligned Movement, what true sovereignty means, why free trade agreements trap Malaysia from raising wages or protecting local farmers, how ASEAN's 680 million people could become a self-sufficient bloc, and lessons from China, Cuba-Venezuela, and the history of neocolonial coups. Laith Marouf | Why the West Fails to Understand Resistance

In episode 75 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Laith Marouf, a Syrian, Palestinian, Canadian journalist, political commentator, and the founder of Free Palestine TV. Laith’s work spans frontline journalism, political analysis, and independent media organizing, rooted in the Palestinian struggle for liberation and the broader politics of West Asian resistance. Born into a Syrian-Palestinian family and later based in Canada, his reporting and commentary have focused on imperialism, Zionist settler-colonialism, and the role of independent media in challenging mainstream narratives. We discuss how his Palestinian-Syrian heritage and lived experience as a diasporan journalist shaped his political consciousness, what led him to found Free Palestine TV as a platform for uncensored coverage and analysis, and how his time in Canada informs his understanding of Western media complicity. Laith reflects on the challenges of sustaining independent journalism under political and financial pressure, the importance of on-the-ground reporting from Palestine and Lebanon, and why media sovereignty is essential to anti-imperialist struggle. Mr Fong | Debunking Anti‑China Claims: But at what cost?

In episode 74 of Global Majority for Peace, Ileana Chan is joined by Mr. Fong, a Netherlands‑based content creator known for his debunks of anti‑China propaganda and his work challenging Western narratives about Xinjiang, extremism, and China’s political system. His social‑media presence has grown across diasporic communities, from Malaysia to Europe, where his videos circulate widely among audiences seeking clarity beyond mainstream headlines. We discuss how his political understanding developed despite growing up in a depoliticised Chinese‑diaspora household, how studying history and encountering misinformation pushed him to “untangle” his own assumptions, and why he began creating content after witnessing rising harassment of Chinese people in the Netherlands. Fong reflects on learning about Xinjiang through personal encounters, researching ETIM and extremist violence, and tracing how misattributed images, recycled witnesses, and repetition‑based propaganda shaped global perceptions. He also explains how speaking publicly about these issues has led to an ongoing legal case in the Netherlands, raising questions about censorship, political pressure, and the limits of dissent in Europe.
