    MASH: Recognizing a "Silent" Disease

Welcome to our two-episode series: MD3D: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis — The Role of Primary Care providers in the Growing Epidemic. These episodes have been developed in partnership between American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) and Projects In Knowledge (PIK) Powered By Kaplan and are featured on both AGA’s Inside Scope podcast as well as PIK’s Morning Commute podcast. In episode one, “Recognizing a ‘Silent’ Disease,” Drs. Arun Sanyal and Mary Rinella will discuss MASH and the role that primary care physicians can play in its early detection and treatment. What are the challenges in diagnosing this often-silent disease? What do clinicians need to know to ensure that MASH doesn't fall off their radar? Listen as experts discuss challenges in MASLD/MASH diagnosis, including risk stratification of patients, and implications for diagnostic delays. Additionally, they’ll share strategies for incorporating noninvasive methods such as the FIB-4 score, NFS, APRI, and secondary assessments. Finally, the experts will emphasize the vital role PCPs play in MASH detection and management. This program is supported by an educational grant from Novo Nordisk.
