What This Season Is Not Asking of You

Have you ever felt exhausted—not because life is hard—but because you’re responding to expectations God never gave you? In today’s episode, we’re talking about what this season is not asking of you. Not every good thing is required of you right now, and discernment is just as faithful as diligence. You’ll hear: Why seasons often change before we update our identityHow old assignments quietly turn into burdensWhy faithfulness looks different in different chaptersAnd why carrying everything is not a spiritual virtueThis episode will help you release false urgency, outdated expectations, and invisible pressure—so you can make room for what actually matters in this season. 🎧 Be sure to download the guided worksheet HERE to reflect alongside this episode. I highly recommend setting aside 45–60 minutes to work through it intentionally! Pre-Decisions: The Simple Tool That Frees Your Mental Load

Decision fatigue isn’t a personality flaw — and it’s not just hormones or a busy season. It’s the quiet exhaustion that comes from making too many small decisions all day long. In this episode, I’m sharing one of the most practical tools I use in my own life and work: pre-decisions. Pre-decisions are choices you make once, ahead of time, so future-you doesn’t have to negotiate with tired-you. They aren’t rigid rules — they’re life-giving permissions that reduce mental clutter and free up space for what actually matters. We’ll walk through: What decision fatigue really is (and why it sneaks up on you)Why overwhelm often comes from deciding — not doingHow pre-decisions create less thinking and more beingReal-life examples of pre-decisions in each of the five systems:MeFoodHomeWorkFamilyI’ll also challenge you to start small — just one pre-decision — and show you how even a 1% shift can reduce the mental load you’re carrying. You don’t need more discipline. You need fewer decisions.  Ready to Go Deeper? Batching: From Scattered to Steady.

Ever feel busy all day but still behind? In this episode, Rebekah unpacks one of her most trusted systems: batching. Not as a productivity trick, but as a kindness to your brain. You’ll learn why task-switching exhausts your mind, how batching restores clarity and peace, and how you can start with just one small shift this week. In this episode, we cover: Why overwhelm isn’t about doing too much, but doing too many different thingsWhat batching actually isHow batching reduces decision fatigueHow Rebekah batches content, meals, admin, and manufacturing workTwo practical ways to start batching this weekThe 80% rule: why you don’t need to batch everything to see changePractical takeaway from this episode: Choose one repetitive task this week and block 2–3 hours to batch it. Then pay attention not just to the time saved — but to how it feels.  Ready to Go Deeper? Overwhelmed? Try Reverse Engineering.

Have you ever had a goal that felt exciting… until you tried to figure out how to actually make it happen? In this episode, I introduces one of my most powerful tools for progress: reverse engineering. Instead of jumping six feet, you learn how to take the next six inches—and why those small, faithful steps lead to sustainable change. You’ll learn: What reverse engineering actually isWhy overwhelm is often a clarity problem (not a motivation problem)How this concept connects directly to Habakkuk 2:2How I used reverse engineering for vow renewal, business growth, and even my future retreat cabinA simple challenge you can start today“You don’t need the whole roadmap. You just need the next faithful six inches.” Scripture referenced: Habakkuk 2:2 – “Write the vision and make it plain.”  Ready to Go Deeper? Every year or so, I like to record a “where we are now” episode. Not the polished version. Not the edited version. Just the real one. Who Am I? Helping Ourselves (and Our Teens) Rediscover Identity in a Noisy World with Guest Ellie Saxer

This week on The Encourager, I’m joined again by my dear friend and resident brain-science-meets-Bible expert, Ellie Saxer, and we’re talking about something we see everywhere — an identity crisis hitting every generation, from moms to teens to college students. Ellie shares powerful research on why our teens (and honestly, we adults) feel more lonely, anxious, and disconnected than ever — and how much of that traces back to not knowing who we are outside of our roles, and to the massive influence of social media and comparison culture. We talk about: Why “Tell me about yourself” is so hard for most people to answerThe shocking stats around teen loneliness, perfection pressure, and screen timeHow our brains process emotional pain the same way as physical painWhy we’re wired by God for connection, service, and joyHow to help your kids recognize curated/fake content onlinePractical steps to rediscover who you were uniquely created to beHow to help your teens build identity, resilience, and confidenceThe power of calling out the God-given qualities you see in your childrenWhy serving others actually rewires your brain toward joyThis is a deep, encouraging, eye-opening episode that will help you support your teens, reconnect with who you are, and understand why identity matters so deeply in our walk with Christ. And here’s your first step:  Write down the question Ellie’s counselor asked her Who are you… outside of your roles? Sit with it. Pray over it. Begin noticing what lights you up. This is a journey, not a quick assignment. At the end, Ellie and I share practical next steps for you and your family, including a simple way to capture identity “clues” on your fridge. 🔗 Links & Resources: 🎧 Listen now on Apple Podcasts & Spotify   💗 Join the Encourager Community: encouragerpodcast.com 📝 Explore the 5 Systems & Courses: encourageracademy.com 🛍️ Shop Rebekah Scott Designs: shoprsd.com 🛒 Browse Rebekah’s Favorite Tools: Amazon Shop ⭐ Leave a Review: It helps more women find the show! 📱 Connect on Instagram: @encouragerpodcast 🙌 Share this episode: Tag us and tell us how you’re starting this year!
