Interviews With The "Godzilla Minus Zero" Cast, Director/Writer & Crew

“Godzilla Minus Zero” is a Japanese epic kaiju film written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who also supervised its visual effects. A sequel to “Godzilla Minus One” (2023), the film takes place in 1949, as postwar Japan struggles to rebuild and faces a new threat from King Ghidorah, prompting a regenerated Godzilla to resurface and confront the monster. Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Yuki Yamada, Kuranosuke Sasaki, Sakura Ando, and Miou Tanaka reprise their roles, joined by newcomers Min Tanaka, Masami Nagasawa, and Jun Kunimura. The first Japanese production filmed for IMAX, the film had its world premiere at the 2026 New York Film Festival, where critics praised its visual effects and debated whether it surpassed its acclaimed predecessor. Writer and director Takashi Yamazaki and stars Ryunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe were kind enough to spend time speaking with Giovanni Lago, while sound team members Hisafumi Takeuchi and Natsuko Inoue, visual effects artists Tatsuji Nojima and Takayuki Ueki, and producer Kazuaki Kishida spoke with me about their work and experiences making the film, which you can watch or listen to below. Interview With "Closure" Filmmaker Michał Marczak

“Closure” is a 2026 Polish documentary film directed and produced by Michał Marczak. The film follows Daniel Dymiński, who searches Poland's Vistula River after his teenage son, Krzysztof Dymiński, goes missing in May 2023, torn between fear that his son is dead and hope that he may still be alive. CCTV footage taken on the morning of his disappearance shows Krzysztof standing on a bridge, but not whether he jumped or walked away, and Daniel continues to investigate long after the police and local media have stopped searching. The film had its world premiere in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where it received widespread critical praise. “Obsession” is an American supernatural indie horror film written, directed, and edited by Curry Barker. It stars Michael Johnston as Bear, a shop clerk whose wish for his friend Nikki (Inde Navarrette in a breakout performance) to fall in love with him leads to terrifying consequences. Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter appear in supporting roles. Partly inspired by “The Simpsons” episode “Treehouse of Horror II,” the film was shot in Los Angeles on a $750,000 budget and marks Barker’s second feature following “Milk & Serial.” It had its world premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, where Focus Features acquired its distribution rights in a record-setting deal for a genre film. I listen to multiple podcasts, a couple of movie podcasts, and this podcast occasionally. The digger episode is the most embarrassing thing I have ever listened to. To not like the movie is one thing, of course, I called it a bad movie myself. But the fundamental misreading of the whole thing was insufferable. Completely grating. It sounded like a bunch of middle schoolers discussing Tolstoy and complaining that it was too dense and they didn’t get it so it must be bad. Like it seemed childish to me at some point. I didn’t get this movie so it must be dumb and bad. And it can’t possibly be very smart because we didn’t get it so of course, must just be stupid. And just continuously doubling down on these ideas. Just making completely different movies at multiple points. I’d be embarrassed to have this on record as a professional. Heck, I’d be embarrassed to have this as a normie on letterbox. Would delete my account.

Amazing resource for staying up on what’s going on in film, especially new releases and awards - but what I love most about this podcast is the hosts’ obvious pure love and enthusiasm for the movies. They’re all just genuine people, and there’s a refreshing lack of the smugness and bored/ironic in-jokiness that tends to plague certain other popular film podcasts. Highly recommended especially for those who love movies but don’t enjoy filmbro vibes, lol.
