October 27, 2026: Peter Sterne on Midterm Elections + Sander Hicks & Sophie Gonick on Break the Chain + Danny Valdez on Cuban Americans for Cuba

Peter Sterne, Editor at City & State, breaks down everything you need to know about the Midterm Elections before you vote. He breaks down how the elections work, how voting in New York works, which ballots are being voted on, and what the implications are for each ballot. An informative episode for all of us, that will serve both in this election and more to come. Ever wondered what the difference is if you vote for your candidate under the Democratic Party vs under the Working Families Party? Peter Sterne answers all this and more. Break the Chain Organizers Sander Hicks and Sophie Gonick join us. Earlier this week, DSA's Break the Chain project held an interfaith anti-war event, hosting a panel of religious scholars and activists to discuss the relationship between anti-war traditions and faith. They also called for an arms embargo at JFK. Since October 2023, JFK has served as a transport hub for ammunition to reach Israel. Break the Chain wants to stop companies from using civilian infrastructure to fuel the war supply chain. Sander Hicks, the moderator of this panel and Sophie Gonick, Professor of Social & Cultural Analysis at NYU and fellow organizer join us to talk about it all. Danny Valdez, founder of Cuban Americans for Cuba talks about why he's giving Cuban Americans a voice, why now and why not all Cubans are in favor of the longstanding US-Cuba policies.
