Michael Lukk Litwak - Writer / Director (Molli and Max in the Future)
Michael Lukk Litwak
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Michael Lukk Litwak. Michael is the writer & director of the new science fiction romantic comedy (sci-fi-rom-com); Molli and Max in the Future. This film stars Zosia Mamet and Aristotle Athari, and debuted at the SXSW film festival. In this episode, we chat about shat made Michael want to become a filmmaker, and why he chose to study at NYU Tisch. Then we get into his film making career. He started with several short films before his first feature film, Molli and Max in the Future. Michael shares some of his behind the scenes process with regard to some of the practical effects used in this fantasy space love story. Michael also lets us in on a little secret about putting the final touches on the film just days before its SXSW debut. Of course I ask him how Zosia and Aristotle came to be in the picture, and what he hopes this inventive film will do for his career going forward.
Be sure to check out Molli and Max in the Future, streaming everywhere! -
Jeff Leach - Comedian / Voice Over / DJ / Podcaster / Entertainer
Jeff Leach
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Jeff Leach. Jeff is a comedian, voice over actor, DJ, presenter, podcaster, and entertainer. In this episode, we chat about how he came to be all of those things. He shares stories from his DJ-ing days and we talk a bit about his voice over career; including his stint as GHOST on Call of Duty. We also get into his British & Romanian parents and influences, before we jump into his microdosing experiences. Jeff is very candid about his mental health struggles, including an attempt to take his own life several years ago. I ask him about his podcast: "Comic Cougar Convo" with co-host Cherie DeVille, and some of the work he does with Warrior Transition Outdoors, and other veterans organizations. I tell him the starfish parable, and we discuss the pertinence of that story in today's culture. Finally, we talk about his You Tube comedy special called "Jeff Leach Presents A Comedy Spectacular. (Free on YT). Jeff also tells me a bit about his new channel on You Tube called "An Evolution of Man", and what he hopes to accomplish with it.
I say it at the top of the show, but special thanks to Lori Fetrick (Ice from American Gladiators) for helping make this episode possible. Go check out Jeff's podcast, You Tube channel, voice over projects, and his comedy spectacular. -
Hank Garrett - Actor (Car 54 Where Are You? / Three Days of the Condor / G.I. Joe)
Hank Garrett
Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Hank Garrett. Hank grew up in the rough streets of Harlem in the 1940's & 1950's. During that time he watched schoolmates die, or go to prison. Then Willie Bryant "The Mayor of Harlem" stepped in; introduced Hank to Sammy Davis Jr, and everything changed. After that, Hank began his careers in Stand up comedy, professional wrestling, martial arts, and eventually acting. In this episode we chat about his journey From Harlem Hoodlum, To Hollywood Heavyweight. That also hapoens to be the title of his new book. Hank shares stories about working with: Benny The Jet Urquidez, Sammy Davis Jr, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Dean MArtin, Buddy Hackett, Chuck Norris, Jerry Lewis Al Lewis, David Frost, and Robert Redford. Fun behind the scenes tales about 'Car 54 Where Are You?', 'Three Days of the Condor', 'That Was The Week That Was', and 'G.I.Joe'. Hank still won't name the New York mobster that gave him his first gun, or the Cosa Nostra that elped out his mom on some interesting occasions. Make sure you check out his book, and get the rest of the amazing accounts of Hank being the very first white comedian to play The Apollo Theater, touring as Tony Bennett's opener, getting kicked out of The Actors Studio, and how he repaid Robert Redford for keeping Hank from going blind!
Special thanks to mutual friends Kat & Clint Howard for connecting Hank & me for this conversation.
