EPISODE 144: PULE (Bombshelter Beast, Cradle Crew, Church of the Rolling Tongue)

I sit down with one of our country’s most fascinating storytellers, versed in the deeper linguistic and cultural history traditions of Azania and !Naremâb (Southern Africa), for a conversation that will blow your mind.As a musician and comedian, Pule shares some incredibly interesting insights into an approach to comedy, rap, and movement. As a panlingual lyricist, performer, scholar of linguistics, and cultural technologist, Pule opens up a whole world of indigenous interconnections that many of us have probably never even heard of before. This conversation genuinely inspired me to learn more about my own roots, and about the history of South Africa and its people.Pule explains how being born into a community with a deep awareness of history, heritage, and language, was a foundation that developed into a lifelong passion and way of seeing the world. After travelling through 21 countries across the African continent, extraordinary experiences and discoveries are shared, uncovering some of the hidden histories and connections between different cultures and communities. We also talk about Pule's involvement in the Cradle Crew Hip-Hop mentorship initiative, and with the new band, Church of the Rolling Tongue, currently hitting stages and releasing new music. This is one of those conversations that reminds you just how much history is hiding in the words we speak every day - and how much more there still is to discover about who we are and where we come from.

Episode 140: Panch Gazela (Comedian)

I got to sit down with the stand-up comedian, PANCH GASELA - a.k.a. the next big thing to hit SA comedy! We laugh our way through touchy politics and race subjects and talk about some of the incredible career highlights Panch has already achieved at such a young age. He opens up about his health journey and appreciating the small things in life.Panch is a prominent South African comedian and actor who has toured the world performing. He is part of Trevor Noah's "BaFunny BaFunny" South African comedy tour and has credits in films and TV series such as What About the Boys and Soon Comes the Night.I'd love to have Panch back for a chat one day because we didn't have enough time to talk about all of his talent and successes and because his positive energy is just so contagious! EPISODE 139: RAAF

    EPISODE 138: THE DAD CHAT

In our honest and fun conversation about fatherhood, we open up about things we don't usually share or show as dads - like the things our kids teach us, what we need to unlearn and what we learned from our own fathers. Watch until the end to see our own kids give us a special surprise! With entertainers, comedians, producers and actors - Solomon Cupido, Neels Clasen and Themba Robin. This episode was made possible by our friends at Roman's Pizza. A special thanks Biggi Popcorn for making our conversations super yummy!

    EPISODE 137: KLEIN KWAGGA (DANSER)

Ek leer ken vir Dircko, beter bekend as Klein Kwagga. Hierdie gesprek was vir my 'n groot inspirasie! Dankie, Klein Kwagga! Ons hou jou dop!
