Great episode. This is one soundtrack I've had on cassette since it came out but never upgraded to CD. Luckily my cassette player still works, and it actually still sounds pretty good, listening-quality-wise. As this episode makes abundantly clear, it's quite an overlooked little gem and is soooooo late-80s/early-90s (more or less the same set of aesthetics 1989-1991 or so) it's like opening a vault and breathing in the air of yesteryear each time I put it on.
One of my favorite things about this podcast is the chance to hear covers I never had before. The cover posted here of the title track is great - possibly better than the Gladys original. A few episodes back, that Tape Five cover of "A View to a Kill" was so good I've listened to it practically every day since. My two year old has been singing it, which is a sure sign he's destined for great things. Crooner-disco-Bond is manna from heaven.
Cheers, Jarrod and Alan, look forward as always to the next installment. (Even if we are now moving beyond my Bond-soundtrack-love and familiarity. I have and study, to some extent, everything from Dr. No through License to Kill; everything beyond is not my specialty.)
