The DCAU Review

At the time of this review Cal and Liam have officially reviewed all 85 episodes of Batman: The Animated Series. I have listened to every one and these guys are the best in the business. Some of the episodes they were hard on surprised me but I never came away from a review without new thoughts and ideas. A few of their observations flat out blew my mind and made me go back and do my own rewatch. Bravo guys! Congratulations on this achievement!

Fortunately not when I listen to The DCAU Review. (I’m trying to make up for the DCAU Etrigan’s lack of rhyming.) I found out about this podcast thanks to the Watchtower Database, and I’m super glad that I did. I really enjoy listening as Cal and Liam assess each spotlighted DCAU episode by examining the individual aspects of plot, animation, music, and voice acting. I also appreciate that they extend their coverage beyond just the DCAU by applying their signature review style to episodes of non-Timmverse DC animated series as well, especially my favorite The Batman. Whatever this mystery gift is that I’ll be receiving for writing this review, I hope that Cal and Liam are better gift-givers than Mongul in “For the Man Who Has Everything” or Booster Gold in “The Gift” and that I don’t wind up with a Black Mercy on my birthday or with a twisted alternate reality before my wedding.

Jonesing for a podcast where a few people talk about some of my favorite animated Batman movies, I was thrilled to discover The DCAU Review on the last day of 2023. The Long Halloween Part 1 and 2, Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, and Mask of the Phantasm are all covered along with many more movies and series. There’s a great blend of opinions, history, and audio clips. Great job, Cal and Liam.
