The examen is an ancient prayer practice that enables you to find God in your daily life. Our podcast is based on a technique that St. Ignatius Loyola outlined in the "Spiritual Exercises," his classic manual for prayer. Each week Fr. Martin will provide you with a new reflection and guide you through the examen prayer.
Twenty-sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
We'll continue to use the same reflection and examen for the rest of the week. New reflections will be added every Sunday. *Due to Covid-19, our 2020 reflections are re-purposed from earlier examen episodes.
Dear Father Jim,
I stumbled upon your Examen meditation online and feel so blessed.
I plan to end each day with this beautiful spiritual practice.
I thank God for bringing me to you at the end of this day.
With a grateful heart.
Concerned about lack of new material
This would be a five star review but we notice there hasn’t been a new reflection in three years. The intro and the advertisement at the end have changed—some new reflections would be nice to hear as well.
Awareness of Jesus
This is a wonderful podcast. Having been exposed to Jesuit education since seventh grade, this is the first time I have been guided by a Jesuit to do the Examen. I’m now 69 years old !
My good friend, brother in faith and role model, Charles Beirne SJ, may have tried to expose the Examen in the many days we spend together at school, Jesuit residence, and home and on several social ministries but I never knew he was doing it. So here I am now exploring the Examen in a habitual way and hoping to let others know about it. Thank you to the Jesuit Community and Father Martin.
