    🎃🔪 EPISODE 170: HALLOWEEN 2026 🔪🎃

It's our favourite night of the year, and we're celebrating the only way we know how: with The Shape. For this year's annual Halloween episode, Matty and Andrew take on two very different chapters of the Michael Myers saga — a Druid cult fever dream and a Jamie Lee Curtis comeback with an axe. 🩸 HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS (1995) The Curse of Thorn, a sanitarium full of cultists, Donald Pleasence's final turn as Loomis, and introducing… Paul Rudd. Uneven? Sure. Silly? Absolutely. But it swings. Matty: 3.5 | Andrew: 3.5 🪓 HALLOWEEN H20: 20 YEARS LATER (1998) Laurie Strode faked her death, runs a boarding school, and keeps a bottle within arm's reach — and then her brother comes calling. Janet Leigh, Josh Hartnett, LL Cool J, and a PERFECT score from both of us. Matty: 5 | Andrew: 5 Plus: 🔥 Horror in Real Life — Matty climbs the Hill of Ward in Co. Meath, the "birthplace of Halloween," where Samhain fires once relit every hearth in Ireland. Andrew covers the 2026 war on Halloween, a 1957 trick-or-treater who came to kill, and AI ghosts that have police investigating hauntings that never happened. 📺 Whatcha Been Watchin', Bitch — a Carrie double-dip, Resident Evil, Evil Dead Burn, Backrooms and more 🍬 Closing game: Trick or Treat… Bitch! 🌽 Episode 169: CORNFIELDS ARE TERRIFYING 🌽

This week, Matty & Andrew wander into the rows (against Matty's better judgement — he grew up in Northwest Indiana, he KNOWS what corn does at night). We get into the very real phenomenon of "corn sweat" making Midwest summers miserable, why mature cornfields are scientifically designed to make you walk in circles (one family got lost in a maze just 25 feet from the exit!), the chilling reality of crimes hidden in ordinary Midwestern fields, and the nightmare of grain-bin entrapment — drowning on dry land. Plus: what a warming planet means for the world's biggest crop. And then we watched some movies. 🍿🎃 🎬 CHILDREN OF THE CORN III: URBAN HARVEST — He Who Walks Behind the Rows moves to Chicago. Campy, silly, and it sings in its stupidness. Bonus points for spotting an uncredited Charlize Theron. 🎬 DARK HARVEST — Halloween night, 1963. Sawtooth Jack is loose until midnight. Bold, original, oddly touching — the perfect way to kick off spooky season. Plus: Horror in Real Life, Whatcha Been Watchin' Bitch, and a closing game of CORN OR… PORN? (You'll never look at a cob the same way.) 💛 Huge welcome to our newest Patron, LeevsFilm! 🎧 Listen now wherever you get your podcasts! 💸 Support the show: frigay13.com/support ⭐ Leave a review — and tell a friend! #FriGay13 #CornfieldsAreTerrifying #horrorpodcast #lgbtqpodcast #queerpodcast #horrorcommunity #getslayed #horrorpodcasts #queerhorror #gayhorror #ChildrenOfTheCorn #DarkHarvest #folkhorror #StephenKing #spookyseason #halloween

    EPISODE 168: SURVEILLANCE IS TERRIFYING

This week we go deep on the surveillance state, 25 years after 9/11:🚨 Matty digs into how Ring/Nest doorbell cams are quietly wrecking neighborly trust — and getting innocent people shot at — via Vox's July reporting on the paranoia economy🚨 Andrew covers real cops abusing Flock license-plate cameras to stalk exes, plus three cases where facial recognition sent innocent people to jail, including an 8-months-pregnant woman arrested at home Then we're back in the found-footage woods with:🎬 Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 — Matty: 2.5 🌈 | Andrew: 4 🌈🎬 Paranormal Activity 2 — Matty: 4 🌈 | Andrew: 5 🌈 Plus Whatcha Been Watchin' Bitch and the closing game "Who's Watching Me???" 👁️ Someone's always watching. 🔪 EPISODE 167: POPULARITY IS TERRIFYING 🔪

Matty and Andrew are back with a brand new episode — and this week it's giving Mean Girls, but make it horror. We're breaking down who gets to sit with us (RIP Annabelle, we don't make the rules) before diving into two flicks about cliques, queen bees, and what happens when you'll do anything to get in. 🎬 FILM ONE: Heathers (1989)Three girls named Heather rule Westerburg High until new kid J.D. convinces Veronica it's time to take them down a peg — and things get murderous fast.Matty: 6 | Andrew: 5.5 🎬 FILM TWO: The In Crowd (2000)A fresh start at a posh country club turns sinister when queen bee Brittany Foster pulls Adrien into her world of secrets and social climbing.Matty: 3.5 | Andrew: 4.5 Plus this week's Horror in Real Life: the wild psychology of groupthink, the terrifying history of social conformity turning deadly, and how the chase for popularity online has had devastating real-world consequences. And of course — Unpopular Opinions returns for the game segment, because apparently we all have thoughts on jump scares and Halloween decoration timelines. 🎧 Listen now wherever you get your podcasts! 💀 Support the show and grab merch: frigay13.com/support #FriGay13 #getslayed #horrorpodcast #queerpodcast

🌊😱 EPISODE 166: WATERPARKS ARE TERRIFYING

Wave pools. Drain suction. Parasites that laugh at chlorine. Turns out the "safe" attraction at the water park was never safe — and we've got the real-life horror stories to prove it (RIP Action Park, aka "Traction Park"). 🎬 PIRANHA (1978) — Genetically engineered killer fish, bred for Vietnam, get loose and head straight for a summer camp. Spielberg himself called it "the best of the Jaws rip-offs." 🎬 JAWS 3D (1983) — The Brody boys can't catch a break. This time it's a SeaWorld-style marine park and a mama great white hunting for her missing baby through the underwater tunnels. Plus: Verrückt, Cryptosporidium outbreaks, and why wave pools might be the scariest attraction of all. 💄 EPISODE 165: BEAUTY IS TERRIFYING 🪞

How far will we go for beauty? How deep and dear is the costs?  We dig in to a genuinely gruesome history — lead face paint, arsenic wafers, radium perms, and an electric corset that promised to cure your "hysteria." We dig into how beauty has been poisoning people for centuries, then bring it into the present with looksmaxxing, bone smashing, and the new horror of AI dysmorphia — patients bringing AI-edited selfies to plastic surgeons and asking to look like a face that was never real. Then two films that put "beauty is terrifying" into practice: 🎬 AMERICAN MARY (2013) — A broke med student starts doing underground body-mod surgery to pay the bills, until an assault sends her somewhere much darker. Katharine Isabelle carries it, but the acting around her holds it back. Matty: 4.5 | Andrew: 4.5 🎬 THE SUBSTANCE (2024) — Demi Moore takes a black-market drug that spawns a younger, "better" version of herself, with horrifying consequences. Bold, unforgettable, unlike anything else out there. Matty: 6.5 | Andrew: 5.5 Plus: a beauty-fact-or-myth game, "The Tea on T-Zones," and a full breakdown of what we've been watching — House of the Dragon, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, The Mummy, Undertone, and more. 🌈🔪 Episode 164: PRIDE SHOULDN'T BE TERRIFYING 🔪🌈

🌈🔪 Episode 164: PRIDE SHOULDN'T BE TERRIFYING 🔪🌈 It's Pride Month, and Matty & Andrew are asking the question nobody wants to answer: why does celebrating still feel like a risk? This week's Horror in Real Life: Pride events turning into full security operations, parades getting canceled outright (Tampa, Arlington, Long Beach), corporate sponsors quietly bailing, and the online harassment machine that never clocks out. Cute rainbow crosswalk, increasingly not-cute reality. Then, two films about queerness treated as the crime: 🎬 THEY/THEM — Kevin Bacon's second "killer stalking a camp" movie (yes, after Friday the 13th), this time set at a conversion therapy camp. Corny in places, but it lands a real gut-punch about where queer rage goes. 🎬 WE'RE ALL GOING TO THE WORLD'S FAIR — Jane Schoenbrun's deeply online, deeply trans identity horror.  🎧 Listen now wherever you get your podcasts! 💸 Support the show: frigay13.com/support #FriGay13 #PrideMonth #horrorpodcast #lgbtqpodcast #queerpodcast #horrorcommunity #getslayed #horrorpodcasts #queerhorror #gayhorror #THEYTHEM #WorldsFair #PrideShouldntBeTerrifying
