    Ep 89: The Final Showdown with Dave Wielgosz

    It was once said “wanna know if you can kick some game, come with something more clever than just your name,” Well, that is just what comic writer Dave Wielgosz did as we celebrate the conclusion of his first creator-owned-comic series, “SHOWDOWN,” from Ignition Press. The long time editor, and cult-classic Man-Bat series writer, cut a beloved reputation amongst creatives and industry insiders, but sometimes “the rivers and the lakes that you're used to” just aren’t enough and you gotta chase those waterfalls of the creator-owned… and that’s exactly what Wielgosz did. SHOWDOWN was a project Dave had in the making for nearly 15 years. From concept, to paper, to on the shelves all across America. This neo-western is an emotional plunge into the darkness of small town New England as two young people revisit the skeletons of their past in preparation for a fight to the death. As the hard man Vinnie Jones once said “It’s been emotional.” With a stellar collection of award winning industry talents lending their collective toolboxes to the visuals ( and I was there too), this is definitely a book BTR can’t wait to see collected and on the shelf in stellar GN fashion. Also would make a pretty intense tv series…movie… just saying. The final issue (#5) of “SHOWDOWN” drops in stores today. TODAY! As I write this! And as the guy who drew it, I can honestly say we stuck the landing with maybe our best issue in the mini series. It gives you everything you’ve been waiting for as the reader. The curse of the “Tiger’s Kiss” seems to hold true in the crazy world of comic books, so we have a funny feeling that this is only the beginning for Dave. We see big things happening for him in the near future, remember… low level psychics over here.
