Melanie Reyes, Faith-Based Coach for Christian Women

This podcast is for Christian women navigating mental health, emotional healing, focus, and codependency recovery, women who love Jesus but still feel stuck, ashamed, or bound by patterns they can't seem to break. I'm Melanie Reyes, and I get it, because I've lived it. I'm a Certified Faith-Based Coach also known as your Focus Bestie, and this is Real with Melanie: Christian Women Healing from Shame, Fear & Codependency. Each episode blends honest reflection, journal entries, and life lessons rooted in biblical truth and real-life healing, including the Open Letter series, raw letter-style episodes written to meet you exactly where you are, along with honest conversations with guests sharing their own stories of faith, focus, and healing. This podcast is for you if you find yourself asking questions such as: - Why do I feel so far behind everyone else? - How do I heal from a toxic relationship as a Christian woman? - Why can't I break this cycle of people pleasing and shame? - How do I stay focused on God's plan when my mind feels scattered and overwhelmed? - Why do I keep starting over and never finishing what God called me to do? - How do I quiet the anxiety and fear that keep me stuck? - How do I trust God's timing when I feel like I'm running out of it? - Why do I feel like an imposter even in the areas where I've grown the most? Because around here, we believe transformation doesn't come from pretending everything is okay. It comes from owning your story and aligning it with God's grace. Faith + Intentions = Transformation. 36: An Open Letter to the Woman Who Prayed for a Different Ending

Have you ever prayed for a different ending so long that waiting began to shape your choices? This open letter explores emotional sobriety for Christian women, codependency recovery, and trusting God when a relationship or outcome has not changed. Shortly after my divorce, I received what was presented as a prophecy about my marriage. I understood it to mean reconciliation was coming and spent the next year waiting. I share how a legitimate desire for restoration became an attachment to one outcome, why spiritual words need discernment, and what I learned about bringing my hope to God without writing His answer for Him. This letter is for the woman waiting for someone to return, a relationship to change, an apology to come, or a prayer to be answered in the way she pictured. We explore how unmet expectations can affect our peace and sense of worth, and why taking the next faithful step does not mean we have stopped caring. This is part 2 of the four-part Emotional Sobriety Open Letter series.  Explore the 20 lessons of Kingdom Happily Ever After at kingdomhappilyeverafter.com. 35: An Open Letter to the Woman Who Needs Everyone to Be Okay

What if being the caring one, the dependable one, the peacemaker, or the person everyone calls is quietly costing you your peace?   In Episode 35 of Real with Melanie, Melanie begins a four-part series on emotional sobriety for Christian women. This open letter explores how codependency, people-pleasing, fear of rejection, the need for reassurance, overexplaining, rescuing, and trying to manage other people's emotions can hide underneath qualities we often call loving, helpful, empathetic, or faithful.   Emotional sobriety is not about becoming emotionless, detached, or completely independent. It is learning to feel deeply without allowing every emotion, relationship, or person's response to control your identity, decisions, or peace. For the Christian woman, that means becoming increasingly rooted in Christ rather than in approval, validation, control, or the need for everyone around you to be okay.   In this episode, Melanie shares what two years of emotional sobriety have taught her about recognizing unhealthy emotional dependence beyond romantic relationships, including family, friendships, work, and ministry. She also explores the difference between caring for people and making them responsible for keeping you emotionally okay.   This week's My Path to Wholeness question: What person, relationship, circumstance, or outcome has more influence over my emotional state than I realized?   If you're ready to go deeper into the patterns underneath codependency, people-pleasing, unhealthy attachment, shame, control, and emotional dependence, Kingdom Happily Ever After is Melanie's 20-lesson biblical recovery guide to emotional sobriety.   Download the 20 lessons at kingdomhappilyeverafter.com   A little about this show: Real with Melanie is a faith-based podcast for Christian women navigating mental health, emotional healing, and the journey to wholeness in Christ. 34: Christian Dating After Healing | An Open Letter to the Woman Learning to Choose Differently

What does dating after divorce as a Christian woman look like after you have spent years doing the emotional healing work? In this episode, Melanie shares what three dates in ten months revealed about dating after healing, relationship discernment, emotional safety, boundaries, and learning to choose differently. This Open Letter is for the Christian woman who wants love but no longer wants to lose herself trying to find it. It explores why a good Christian man can still not be the right man for you, why shared faith does not always mean shared spiritual direction, and how to give someone grace for his season without making his growth your assignment. Melanie also shares what happened when she asked a dating connection to slow down, why being chosen is not the same as being emotionally safe, and how emotional sobriety changes what you notice, what you tolerate, and what you do next. Healing does not mean you never feel attracted, anxious, hopeful, disappointed, or triggered. It means those feelings no longer have to make your decisions. Your My Path to Wholeness question for this week is: What is your current relationship season revealing about you? Ready to go deeper? 32: Starting Over as a Christian Woman | 5 Things to Hold Onto When You're Starting Over

Why do you keep starting over and never finishing what God called you to do? This episode walks you through the five things I make sure I have every time I start over, whether that's from divorce, a season change like empty nesting, or healing from past hurt and trauma. These five things are not a formula. They will not earn you a new life. They're the practical, day-to-day things I do while God does what only God can do. For each one, I'm giving you a real example of how it played out in my life and two coaching questions to help you assess where you actually stand: community, a Bible-teaching church, therapy, working on yourself body and spirit, and investing in the one area you need the most help with. This episode covers identity in Christ, codependency recovery, and what it actually looks like to steward your healing instead of white-knuckling it alone. 31: Healing From Shame, Codependency & Alcohol | Why I Went Silent for 6 Years

Why did I go silent on this podcast for six years? This full-length episode is the honest answer, covering a toxic on-and-off relationship, codependency, alcohol, and the shame that silenced a faith-based coach from telling her own story. This is the most personal episode I have ever recorded. For six years I told you "life happened." That was true, but it wasn't the whole truth. In this episode, I'm sharing the whole truth: a relationship I was too ashamed to post publicly, alcohol that quietly became something I had to manage, and the shame that kept me from telling my own story while teaching other women how to heal from theirs. This episode covers emotional sobriety, codependency recovery, identity in Christ, and what it actually looks like to mourn who you used to be so God can use who you're becoming. If you're a Christian woman who has ever lived two lives, one public and one private, this episode is for you. This is a longer episode than usual, built to give this story the room it needed. 29: Ignoring the Confirmation You Already Had | An Open Letter to the Woman Who Got Her Confirmation and Still Stayed

Why do I stay after I already know the truth? This episode is for the woman who got her confirmation, the proof, the pattern, the plain truth, and stayed anyway. Melanie Reyes, Certified Faith-Based Coach and your Focus Bestie, reads an open letter addressing emotional sobriety, trauma bonds, and identity in Christ for women carrying the shame of staying after they already knew. This episode explores what it means to guard your heart after confirmed harm, how shame shows up differently once denial isn't an option anymore, and why walking away from proof you already have is still grief work, not just a decision.
