    Episode 592: The Drama, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie reviews

    A quick episode as we head into spring break here at Breakfast All Day, but it's got a couple of big movies. Here's what we reviewed for you this week: THE DRAMA (No Spoilers!). Lots of buzz about this A24 romance starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, but it may not be the movie you were expecting. There's a shocking twist surrounding this engaged couple in the week before their wedding, which threatens to upend everything. We have mixed feelings on this film. In theaters. THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE. The sequel to 2023's "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" is critic proof, but we thought we'd review it anyway. Everyone's back -- Mario and Luigi and Princess Peach and Boswer -- but now another powerful princess is in danger. It's bright and shiny and colorful and very much for kids. In theaters. Check back with us on Tuesday, April 14 at Noon Pacific, when we'll do a LIVE spoiler chat about "The Drama."     Episode 591: They Will Kill You, Forbidden Fruits reviews

    It's a bit of a quiet week here at Breakfast All Day as "Project Hail Mary" continues to dominate the post-Oscar box office and Alonso is traveling. But! We have reviews of a couple of movies that we don't agree on, and they both happen to be horror comedies: THEY WILL KILL YOU. Zazie Beetz takes on a high-rise full of wealthy Satan worshippers who ... want to kill her. That may sound a lot like last week's "Ready or Not 2: Here I Come," but it's got its own crazy, hyper-stylized action. Think of it as "John Wick" by way of Looney Tunes. In theaters. FORBIDDEN FRUITS. Lili Reinhart stars as the queen bee at the hottest clothing store, with co-workers who follow her around and obey her every rule. And they all happen to be named for fruits. But a new employee threatens to undermine her dominance. Think of it as "Mean Girls" in a Dallas mall. In theaters.     Episode 590: Ready or Not 2: Here I Come review, Movie News

    It's quiet lately as we recover from the Oscars here at Breakfast All Day. We reviewed the week's big, new movie, "Project Hail Mary" in an earlier episode. And we didn't do our usual Friday livestream because of some schedule juggling.  BUT! We did review "Ready or Not 2: Here I Come," the sequel to the 2019 horror comedy hit "Ready or Not." Can you believe there are more Satan-worshipping billionaires trying to kill Samara Weaving? That's in theaters this weekend. And we touched on a few news items off the top, including the big box office opening for "Project Hail Mary," new trailers in the "Spider-Man" and "Dune" franchises (it's Zendaya Day!), and a few thoughts on the passing of Chuck Norris.     There was so much to talk about at this year's Oscars that we wanted to come back the next day for more. This is the audio of the Monday morning reactions livestream we did on our Breakfast All Day YouTube channel. How accurately did you pick the winners?     Episode 588: Project Hail Mary, It's Dorothy!, Movie News LIVE!

    We're taking it easy as we head into this busy Oscar weekend at Breakfast All Day. Here's what we reviewed in our latest episode: PROJECT HAIL MARY. This is a super-early review of the Ryan Gosling-in-space comedy, which doesn't even come out until March 20. But there's so much expectation for it, we wanted to share our throughts as soon as we could. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller direct from a script by Drew Goddard, based on the Andy Weir novel. In theaters next weekend. IT'S DOROTHY! This documentary provides a fresh and clever perspective on the character of Dorothy Gale and the cultural significance of "The Wizard of Oz" in all its incarnations. Writer-director-editor Jeffrey McHale is a friend of ours (we interviewed him here about his "Showgirls" documentary with the brilliant title "You Don't Nomi"), so we didn't give this a number, but genuinely liked the movie so much that we wanted to tell you about it. Streaming on Peacock. MOVIE NEWS LIVE! Our last one before the Academy Awards. Lots to discuss including Timothée Chalamet angering the ballet and opera communities, a sequel for "KPop Demon Hunters," the George Michael "Faith Tour" movie, a Stewie spin-off from "Family Guy" and more.     Episode 587: 2026 Oscar Predictions LIVE Chat With Glenn Whipp

    It's one of our favorite days during awards season: when our great friend Glenn Whipp of the Los Angeles Times joins us to help out with Oscar picks. Glenn covers awards races year-round, and always has lots of insider insight. The three of us don't agree on everything -- we're split on best picture, for example -- but other categories like best actress seem pretty clear at this point. What do you hope to see win?     Episode 586: The Bride!, The Voice of Hind Rajab, The Perfect Neighbor, Mr. Nobody Against Putin, Movie News LIVE!

    It's an absolutely packed episode a week away from the Oscars. We're playing some catch-up with nominees and we've got one monster of a new release. Here's what we have for you: THE BRIDE! That exclamation point says it all. Writer-director Maggie Gyllenhaal's wild and bold update of "The Bride of Frankenstein" mixes tones and genres in a way that's dividing critics (including us). Jessie Buckley and Christian Bale co-star. In theaters. THE VOICE OF HIND RAJAB. The last of the five nominees in the best international feature category for us to discuss here. Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania mixes the real-life audio of a 5-year-old Palestinian trapped in a car in Gaza with actors playing the emergency operators on the other end of the line. We don't agree on this film, either, but it has moved many audiences deeply. Available for online rental. THE PERFECT NEIGHBOR. Nominated for best documentary feature, this Netflix film is composed entirely of deputies' body cam footage of a neighborhood where a deadly shooting ripped the multicultural community apart. We think this is the front-runner for the Academy Award, if only because it's probably the one most people saw (plus, it's great). Streaming now. MR. NOBODY AGAINST PUTIN. Russian school teacher Pavel Talankin bravely documents Putin's propagandist efforts to indoctrinate young minds at the start of the Ukraine invasion. You come to really care about him and the kids in his care, particularly the teens who are facing an uncertain future. This is also up for the best documentary feature Oscar. Available for online rental. MOVIE NEWS LIVE! Another busy week between early reactions to "The Bride!", HBO Max and Paramount + merging into one streaming platform, Daryl Hannah's op-ed about how she's portrayed in Ryan Murphy's "Love Story," the "Little House on the Prairie" reboot, and Catherine O'Hara's posthumous Actor Award.
