Songwriting for Everyone

Joseph R. Lilore

This podcast is for all songwriters, whether just starting or advanced - no musical background necessary! Composer and teacher Joseph Lilore covers the techniques of modern hit songwriters ("Circles" by Post Malone, "Bad Guy" by Billie Eilish), along with in-depth analysis of popular songs through time ("Something" by The Beatles, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana). The first series of lessons is an interactive course, where Joe plays chord progressions on the guitar as you sing along, turning your words into melodies. By the end of that series you will have written your first song, and you will be able to compose as many songs as you wish, in any style - pop, jazz, rock, country & more! The Musical Symbolism in Taylor Swift's "Last Kiss"

In this mini-episode, we look at how Taylor Swift uses music AS symbolism in her song "Last Kiss."  From a highly specific intro length that holds a secret real-life meaning, to a repeating musical motif that intentionally alternates between calm and tense tones, the music tells a story all on its own. Listen to hear how Taylor uses in-chord and out-of-chord notes to mirror the bittersweet memories of an ended relationship.    🎥 For more on tension and calm in songwriting, see my video on Derek Trucks' guitar solo in the live performance of "Midnight in Harlem." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_QdTk5z4QQ&t=2s 🔔 Subscribe to this podcast and check out  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEjOuWfaV5FPBkalMYmHJ5A/playlists/playlists for song breakdowns, accessible music theory, and original music! -------------------------------------------------- 📚 RESOURCES & FREE COURSES BY JOSEPH LILORE: 🌐 Free Lessons, Music & Resources: https://josephlilore.com 🎸 Book — "Guitar Chords for the 21st Century" (11,000+ unique voicings): https://www.amazon.com/dp/0964659646 🎓 Free Songwriting & Guitar Theory Courses: https://www.youtube.com/@NotesAboutMusic/playlists 🎙️ "Songwriting for Everyone" Podcast: https://josephlilore.com/podcast/ -------------------------------------------------- CONNECT WITH JOSEPH LILORE: ▶ Website: https://josephlilore.com ▶ LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/josephlilore ▶ Instagram: https://instagram.com/jlilore ▶ TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@joelilore22 ▶ Facebook: https://facebook.com/NotesAboutMusic -------------------------------------------------- #taylorswift  #LastKiss #SongAnalysis #MusicTheory #Songwriting #taylorswiftlyrics
