This week we have Helen and Bianca talking about the celebration of ‘Australia Day’ in Australia. 2022 January 26th marks the 234th year since Captain Arthur Phillip first landed in Australia with the First Fleet of British ships. Although the day is celebrated by many in Australian society, it also signifies the start of indigenous peoples’ suffering, the erasion and assimilation of their culture and systematic racism lying in Australian society.

This Central-European country has been facing a series of issues now: protests were sparkled on the streets after the first death case of the abortion ban recently; LGBTQ+ rights are still threatened by the government’s attempt to introduce anti-queer regulations; Belarus is trying to dump all its refugee immigrants on the Polish border; The Polish constitutional tribunal just rejected the principle that EU laws are primary over its national legislation, which might cause a Polexit in the future. What is happening within Poland? Why is so many problems flocking to this country? Ala and Helena will tell us their stories.

When Milorad Dodik, the Serb representative of the three presidents announced the possible secession of Republic Srpska from Bosnia and Herzegovina, international media has described it as ‘the most concerning crisis within BiH after 1995’. Indeed, since the end of war in 1995, there has been voices of separation within the state but this time Dodik seems to have a bigger determination. This week, we invited Lana and Aljoša from different parts of Bosnia to share more perspectives on the issue.

Due to project week, we apologise for not being able to update during last week. This week we invited Van from Armenia to talk about the conflict in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh between Armenia and Azerbaijan that has been going on for 3 decades. This issue is still controversial international wide that please respect the diversity of opinions:) Everyone’s opinion is highly related to their education background and political environment around them and it’s impossible for individuals to be non-biased. Our podcast simply hope to take you to a look at what Armenian’s opinions actually are through this episode instead of judging who’s right or wrong on this issue. We also would like to provide opinions from the other side but unfortunately we don’t have anyone related to Azerbaijan within our community. We sincerely wish our listeners can stay open-minded about different perspectives.
