Drainage Before Detox: Why Your Cleanse Made You Feel Worse - Episode 331

Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode! You've been sold the three-day cleanse, the celery juice, the tea with a coupon code. And you've probably also heard a doctor say detox is nonsense because your body already does it on its own. Both are missing the same thing: drainage. In this episode I break down — in plain language — what detoxification actually is, what drainage is, and why one has to come before the other. I walk you through the machinery: the liver, the kidneys, the bowel, the skin, the lungs, and the lymph — the system with no pump, which moves only when you do. Then I get into what changes in midlife. Liver capacity drops. Glutathione declines. Kidney filtration slows decade by decade. Motility slows, and low estrogen and low thyroid make it worse. Estrogen influences how your gallbladder empties and how thick your bile gets, which is why gallbladder issues climb for women at exactly this stage. Menopause isn't only hot flashes and broken sleep. It's a drainage story. I also cover: - Liver phase one and phase two — and the reason phase one can make you feel worse before phase two catches up - The emunctories — your organs of elimination — and the order you have to open them - Biotherapeutic drainage and UNDA: the early-1900s European lineage behind Nebel, Discry and Reuter, and how a plant tincture paired with a homeopathic metal actually targets a specific organ - MTHFR, methylation as a phase two pathway, and my own genetics — held without the internet's drama - Where drainage costs nothing, and the free daily practices I'd start with - My own experience with cysts under the arm, and how I read it - Why emotional stagnation is a terrain too, and what it means to drain the soul Nothing here is medical advice. I'm giving you breadcrumbs — take them to a qualified practitioner, one trained specifically in drainage. If this one lands, share it with one person and hit follow. It genuinely helps the show get found. How to Rewire Your Brain: The Science & Soul of Breaking Old Patterns - Episode 330

Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode! How do you actually rewire your brain and break the patterns running your life? Not through willpower. Not through more insight. Through the practices that reach the level where the wiring actually lives. In this episode, I go deep on the neuroscience and the soul of real change — for anyone who has done the therapy, had the insight, and still ends up back in the same pattern. That is not a willpower problem. It is a wiring problem. And wiring can change. What I cover: What neural pathways are and how they formNeuroplasticity and how the brain restructures itself at any ageThe brainwave states where deep change becomes possible (and why theta matters so much)Memory reconsolidation — the window where old programming can be rewrittenWhy the body must be included, not just the mindThe neurochemistry that makes old patterns feel addictiveEvery major modality with real research behind it — meditation, EFT tapping, breathwork, somatic release, loving-kindness practice, theta-state work, and BEAM TherapyMy own journey with these practices, including my mentor Brenda Farrugia of So BrilliantI want to name something directly. You do not need me to bring on an expert to educate you on this from a place of bias. I come to every episode the same way I have from the beginning — passion over profit, no bias, always. I do the research. I do the reading. I do the personal work. And I bring you what I have learned, walked, and lived. Science and soul. Always. Mentioned in this episode: Brenda Farrugia — So Brilliant (sobrilliant.ca) Official EFT from A to Z by Gabrielle Rutten & Gary Craig Loved this episode? Smoking Versus Vaping Versus Nicotine Pouches Explained WITHOUT Bias - Episode 329

Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode! I break down what the newest research says about cigarettes, vaping, and nicotine pouches, and why the “glamour” narrative is never the same thing as health. I also connect nicotine to addiction science, menopause and HRV, and the deeper emotional reasons people reach for a chemical pause button.   Beware of those posts from wellness "influencers" telling you to use their discount code for the miracle nicotine gum "nootropic" for your brain...you need all the facts before you decide if it's right for you. • 90s nostalgia and media trends that glamorize smoking again   • the hard science on cigarette combustion, toxins, and long-term risk   • what 2026 studies suggest about vaping and cardiovascular harm   • where the vaping and cancer evidence is early, mixed, and still concerning   • nicotine pouches as “clean” marketing versus heart and oral health realities   • why nicotine can feel like focus while strengthening dependence   • quit-rate data and why repeated attempts are normal, not weakness   • menopause, estrogen, HRV, and nicotine as a fight-or-flight drug   • the “thing under the thing” and what we are trying not to feel - you know I will always bring a little bit of soul into every podcast episode. I am one of the rare independent podcasts left...please do your part to help support me to keep going 6+ years and I know how much my integrity has helped the wellness space.  Share this with a friend so that they can get the details on what we know right now. When Sensitivity Is a Superpower: The Science and Soul of Deep Feelers - Episode 328

Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode! I connect the Phoenix Eye thumb marking to the neuroscience of empathy, intuition, and moral sensitivity, starting with a moment where my dog mirrors the pain she sees on screen. I also get honest about what it costs to feel everything and how regulation and boundaries turn sensitivity into strength instead of burnout.  • What the Phoenix Eye looks like and why it stands out  • How dermatoglyphics form in utero alongside emotional brain systems  • Mirror neurons, interoception, and why “gut feelings” can be real data  • Somatic signs of stress and the way midlife hormones can blur signals  • Emotional memory, moral reasoning, and why betrayal can hit so hard  • Genetics and upbringing that shape empathy and social attunement  • How trauma can amplify sensitivity and pattern recognition  • The shadow side of empathy, overgiving, overtrusting, ignoring red flags  • Why dogs co-regulate and model presence and emotional honesty  • Practical ways to build empathy through nervous system regulation  • Boundaries, reciprocity, and why compassion without limits becomes self-abandonment  If this show resonates with you, please follow, rate, review, and share it.  Support the show Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/sandyknutrition/ Facebook Page:  https://www.facebook.com/sandyknutrition TikTok:  https://www.tiktok.com/@sandyknutrition YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIh48ov-SgbSUXsVeLL2qAg Rumble:  https://rumble.com/c/c-5461001 Linkedin:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/sandyknutrition/ Substack:  https://sandykruse.substack.com/ Podcast Website:  https://sandykruse.ca

The Real Meaning Of Karma Through Science And Soul - Episode 327

Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode! I unpack karma as action rather than revenge, using ancient teachings to show how intention and attachment shape the consequences we live with. I connect that spiritual idea to neuroscience, stress physiology, epigenetics, and Saturn as a symbol of time and accountability, then bring it home with one clear practice: stop betraying yourself.  • why I shifted toward solo, research-led conversations without a sales pitch  • karma defined as action and cause and effect, not punishment  • intention as the real generator of consequences  • releasing attachment to outcomes as a discipline  • karma as “residue” through neuroplasticity and stress load  • resentment, cortisol, inflammation and the health cost of replaying harm  • forgiveness as a physiological act of self-rescue  • generational trauma, epigenetics and what families pass down  • Saturn, Capricorn energy and the long arc of consequence  • the core practice of catching self-abandonment and choosing yourself  If this podcast moved something in you, share it with another person who may also find it fascinating, interesting, unbiased, and worthwhile.  Please remember to subscribe. And also, if you could just rate it and review it, Apple and Spotify are the best ways to do that.  Support the show Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/sandyknutrition/ Facebook Page:  https://www.facebook.com/sandyknutrition TikTok:  https://www.tiktok.com/@sandyknutrition YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIh48ov-SgbSUXsVeLL2qAg Rumble:  https://rumble.com/c/c-5461001 Linkedin:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/sandyknutrition/ Substack:  https://sandykruse.substack.com/ Podcast Website:  https://sandykruse.ca

How Gen X Men Learned Silence and How To Undo It - Episode 326

Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode! I talk to the quiet, tired midlife man and the partner who is confused by his silence, and I lay out why this pattern is often nervous system overwhelm, not coldness. I unpack the cultural scripts, the physiology, and the relationship research so we can replace shame with clarity and choose a better way forward.  • the two contradictory scripts men are handed and why both fail decent men  • why social media grifters and hot takes keep men angry, afraid, and stuck  • loneliness data, friendship gaps, and why men’s risk can escalate faster  • the testosterone slope, andropause reality, and why lifestyle can mimic low T  • men’s stress reactivity, cortisol spikes, and the “frantic under armor” pattern  • Gen X conditioning, gender role conflict, restrictive emotionality, and alexithymia  • Gottman’s stonewalling research, flooding, and the demand withdrawal spiral  • the 20 minute rule, self-soothing without numbing, and returning to repair  • building emotional vocabulary as nervous system regulation and neuroplasticity  • breaking the chain for kids by modelling feelings, steadiness, and character  • the difference between being nice, being good, and living by a code  please follow, rate, review, and share it.  Support the show Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/sandyknutrition/ Facebook Page:  https://www.facebook.com/sandyknutrition TikTok:  https://www.tiktok.com/@sandyknutrition YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIh48ov-SgbSUXsVeLL2qAg Rumble:  https://rumble.com/c/c-5461001 Linkedin:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/sandyknutrition/ Substack:  https://sandykruse.substack.com/ Podcast Website:  https://sandykruse.ca

The Bag You Carry Reveals What You Are Ready To Stop Carrying - Episode 325

Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode! I explore the real psychology behind the handbag you carry and why a shift from a big tote to a small crossbody can reflect an identity and nervous system shift. I connect research, lived experience, and midlife boundaries to show how your bag can mirror emotional load, stress coping, and sovereignty.  • the show’s “science and soul” approach and why I keep episodes mostly solo  • the viral TikTok claim and why the deeper truth is more nuanced  • extended self theory and how possessions signal identity  • cognitive load theory and why less internal load can mean a smaller bag  • anticipatory coping and “just in case” preparedness as stress behaviour  • polyvagal theory and why regulated nervous systems reject extra weight  • emotional labour and how women’s invisible work shows up physically  • big bag versus small bag archetypes and what they represent  • my personal shift away from a giant designer tote and what triggered it  • the in-between phase where boundaries, guilt, and identity recalibrate  Please follow rate, review, and share it  Support the show Instagram:  https://www.instagram.com/sandyknutrition/ Facebook Page:  https://www.facebook.com/sandyknutrition TikTok:  https://www.tiktok.com/@sandyknutrition YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIh48ov-SgbSUXsVeLL2qAg Rumble:  https://rumble.com/c/c-5461001 Linkedin:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/sandyknutrition/ Substack:  https://sandykruse.substack.com/ Podcast Website:  https://sandykruse.ca

    Protecting A Long Marriage After 50 - Episode 324

Send me a text! I'd LOVE to hear your feedback on this episode! In this episode of Sandy K Nutrition – Health & Lifestyle Queen, I explore what actually protects a long marriage after 50 — and why the people and pressures around a couple matter as much as what happens between them. This isn't typical marriage advice. I bring the research on family systems and relationships, then connect it to something most conversations leave out: your health. Long marriages don't hold or come apart by accident. The research shows that outside influence — friends, extended family, social circles — quietly shapes a marriage over time, for better or worse. I walk through what that looks like in real life, and how couples in midlife can protect what they've built without cutting everyone else out. I also talk about why this belongs in a health conversation at all. The state of your closest relationships isn't separate from your wellbeing — chronic relational stress affects the nervous system and shows up in the body. I don't look at wellness in pieces, and your most important relationships are one of the most powerful health variables you have. What I cover in this episode: - How outside influence shapes a long marriage over time - What family systems research says about in-law dynamics and boundaries - How the people around you can quietly shift a couple's norms - The difference between protecting a marriage and isolating it - Why your closest relationships are a real health variable after 50 This episode is for women in midlife and anyone in a long marriage who wants the real research.
