    Everyone knows Samsung. Far fewer know that Samsung R&D Institute India-Bangalore (SRIB), its second-largest R&D center outside Korea, has filed around 14,000 patents in the last decade, growing that count by about 20% a year. Even fewer know the man who runs it joined as an engineer in 1997, when the office built telephone systems for small offices.
