E53 The Duck and Horse Dilemma

Today we are visiting the sunny pastures of the Whispering Woods Rescue Ranch to solve a classic Singapore Math riddle! But first, we reveal the mind-bending answer to Tuesday’s "Story with a Hole" rope riddle. Did your family guess the secret? (Hint: Benito's five-meter rope wasn't tied to anything else!) Once our assumption is broken, we head down to the South Stables where Ranger Sofia needs our help preparing dinner buckets. We have 15 horses (caballos) and stable ducks (patos), but their bodies are hidden behind closed Dutch doors! The only clue? A count of exactly 44 legs on the stable floor. Together, we’ll learn how to use the Supposition Method—a brilliant visual logic strategy—to solve the case. Then, it's your turn! Can you apply the exact same method completely on your own to solve the North Barn mystery with 10 heads and 32 legs of horses and chickens (gallinas)? Let’s close the math loop and find out! Inside This Episode: The "Stories with Holes" Reveal: Breaking cognitive assumptions. Singapore Math in Action: Using hypothesis testing to solve "heads and legs" problems. Independent Practice Loop: Transitioning from guided calculation to independent child application. The August Monthly Challenge: Calculating a 32-team single-elimination tournament to find the total games played. Spanish Vocabulary: el caballo (horse), el pato (duck), la gallina (chicken). Check out our free monthly printable on our website to help your child map out this month's soccer tournament bracket! E52 The Runaway Pony and the Muddy Maze

Benito, a pony at the Whispering Woods Rescue Ranch, has escaped into the forest! In this highly active Tuesday episode, younger Thinkers will join Shelley to track Benito’s colorful rubber horseshoes (herraduras) through a muddy path of patterns. Your child will use tactile audio—tapping their knees, clapping their hands, and clicking their tongues—to decode a complex A-A-B-C pattern in Spanish (Azul, Azul, Rojo, Verde), navigate a path split, listen to different horse gaits (trot vs. gallop), and crack a growing numerical code (3, 6, 10, 15... what's next?) to unlock some fresh carrots. We wrap up with a classic "Story with a Hole" cliffhanger inspired by Nathan Levy! Can your child solve how Benito reached an apple tree 10 meters away when tied to a 5-meter rope? Share your family’s best theories at dinner tonight! Key Learning Concepts: AABC Pattern Completion: Multi-step sensory motor processing and sequencing. Rhythmic Auditory Mapping: Distinguishing trotting vs. galloping speeds. Growing Numerical Sequences: Introduction to non-linear patterns (adding one more each time). Lateral Thinking: Introducing the "Stories with Holes" technique to bypass logical assumptions. Spanish Vocabulary: el poni (pony), herraduras (horseshoes), azul (blue), rojo (red), verde (green).
