Join us for a conversation with Jon Dossett, DMD, FACD, FICD, MAGD, ABGD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Comprehensive Dentistry at the University of Texas Health San Antonio School of Dentistry and a nationally recognized educator, speaker, and leader in general dentistry. The discussion focuses on Dossett's career in dentistry, his involvement in organized dentistry, and his leadership roles within the AGD and Texas AGD. Dossett shared insights into how his military background and early involvement in dental organizations prepared him for leadership positions. He discussed the importance of mentorship and getting young dentists involved in leadership early on, highlighting the success of Texas AGD in engaging students and new dentists. The conversation covered the Lone Star Dental Conference, its hybrid learning model, and the integration of the Master Track program. A graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, Dossett served 30 years as a dentist in the U.S. Air Force before transitioning to dental education. He was recently honored with the Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition, having previously earned his Mastership and Fellowship. He has dedicated his career to advancing excellence in patient care, continuing education, and mentorship. Dossett is actively involved in organized dentistry at the local, state, and national levels. He serves on the board of the Texas Academy of General Dentistry and as vice chair of its Education Committee. He has also held leadership roles with the San Antonio Academy of General Dentistry, the American Board of General Dentistry, the American Dental Education Association, and several other professional organizations. An accomplished lecturer, Dossett has delivered more than 1,800 hours of continuing education to dental professionals throughout his career. His contributions to dentistry have been recognized with numerous honors, including the 2023 Texas Dentist of the Year Award and the Academy of General Dentistry's 2023 Faculty of the Year Award.
