Stressed or Satisfied? | Weston Stutz | Captivate Church

The sin we have called out in this series is called Greed. Greed is not just a bad habit, or just a product of capitalism, it is idolatry according to the Bible and it will take much life from us. In a world that works hard to erase our definition and awareness of sin, the reality is we will never be able to ignore sin. We will always feel the ramifications sin has in our lives and the world around us. When we are not faithful to obey God, it leads to sin, which creates the stress we all feel inside. The reality is, sin is stressful and this is why money can stress us out, because we are not always obedient with it. But God gives us a tool called sacrifice to turn it all around. We unpacked what the Bible teaches us about sin and sacrifice in a message called "Stressed or Satisfied?"Join us for service online or in person every Sunday at 8am, 9:30am, 11am, & 12:30pm (PST).If you want to share how God is moving in your life through this ministry, please let us know at info@captivatesd.com!Decided To Follow Jesus? Gambling On God | Caleb Carballo | Captivate Church

Our series, “In Cash We Trust” was titled this way to acknowledge the reality that even as believers sometimes we struggle with really trusting God. If we're honest, there are often times when our knowledge would say, "I trust God," but our actions say, "no, actually I trust money".So why the disconnect? The answer to that was at the heart of our conversation this week. Learning what's at the core of these trust issues empowers us to break them down. We want to be a church that sees God not as a risky proposition, but as the sure thing His Word tells us He is. Tune into this week’s message called, "Gambling On God."Join us for service online or in person every Sunday at 8am, 9:30am, 11am, & 12:30pm (PST).If you want to share how God is moving in your life through this ministry, please let us know at info@captivatesd.com!Decided To Follow Jesus? Sowing And Reaping | Shawn Stone | Captivate Church

“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” This is one of the verses that most people know, both inside and even outside the church. We can freely quote it to others, and we think it is generally true. In our hearts we can often hear another voice saying, “I’m not so sure, I think another pair of Vuori shorts might make me feel pretty blessed.” But this promise means it’s from the mouth of Jesus, and we have to trust that Jesus always wants what is best for us. His desire truly is to bring blessings into our lives in all ways, and generosity is one of the ways that blessings flow into our lives. In week three of our series “In Cash we Trust” we looked at our relationship to money and what God really wants for us in a message called, “Sowing and Reaping”.Join us for service online or in person every Sunday at 8am, 9:30am, 11am, & 12:30pm (PST).If you want to share how God is moving in your life through this ministry, please let us know at info@captivatesd.com!Decided To Follow Jesus? The Tithe Test | Weston Stutz | Captivate Church

This series is about money. But really it's about trust. In fact, the money God gives us to steward in this life shows him if we truly trust him and if he can truly trust us. The Bible is very clear in Luke 16:10 that God already knows if he can trust us with more based on how faithful or trustworthy we are with what we have right now. The reality is, we often want more before giving more or practicing sacrificial generosity. But God is not concerned with how we steward what we don't have but rather what's already in our hand. What we choose to do with the money we currently have is a test, a trust test. In fact, there's only one time in all of the Bible that God says, "Test me... I dare you." And that test is with money, more specifically, the tithe. What is the tithe? And what is it not? This Sunday we jumped into one of the most widely debated principles, practices, and teachings in the Bible in a message called, "The Tithe Test."Join us for service online or in person every Sunday at 8am, 9:30am, 11am, & 12:30pm (PST).If you want to share how God is moving in your life through this ministry, please let us know at info@captivatesd.com!Decided To Follow Jesus?
