Healing Sexual Abuse (feat. Jaymee's Mother Victoria)

In one of the most intimate conversations ever shared on Love Is The Author, Jaymee sits down his mother Victoria Roberts for a conversation about how she survived a decade of horrific sexual abuse by her father, the silence and self-blame she carried, and the spiritual life raft that preserved something in her no one could touch. She recounts confronting her abuser, reclaiming her innocence, and discovering a forgiveness that neither excuses the unforgivable nor requires reconciliation. Mother and son read the letters that helped reroute the pain of their family history: hers to the father who violated her trust, and the prophetic letter she later sent Jaymee when addiction had brought him to his knees—a letter that did not shame him into changing, but loved him into remembering who he was. This is not a story about remaining a victim. It is a story about firm-footed honesty, sacred boundaries, and the rebel spirit that can emerge from the wreckage still capable of making peace. Content note: This episode contains candid discussion of childhood sexual abuse and addiction. Episode 164 - Dan Richter: Making Imagine

John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s close friend, assistant and artistic collaborator Dan Richter takes us even deeper behind the doors of rock-and-roll history in part two of their conversation, recalling the making of Imagine with Phil Spector, what The Beatles’ breakup looked like from inside John and Yoko’s world, and John’s enduring artistic rivalry with Paul McCartney. He shares how Yoko’s relentless devotion to peace helped shape John’s creative evolution—and introduces us to a rarely seen side of Lennon, including his secret passion for doing hair. Dan reveals what he believes was the secret ingredient behind John Lennon’s musical genius, and at one point during the conversation the ghost of John Lennon interrupts the interview. Get ready for another intimate dose of two of the worlds most revolutionary artists told by someone who wasn’t merely there— he was part of the story.  SPONSORED BY: www.yerbamadre.com Interested in Trauma Counseling/Mentorship with Jaymee? email: lacee@loveistheauthor.com to set up a free consultation, or visit: www.loveistheauthor.com/mentorship  LITA PODCAST: hosted, produced, and recorded by Jaymee Carpenter.  SOUND MIX: Chris Faller OPENING SONG: Tripura Sundari by Earthtones Music & Sheela Bringi CLOSING SONG: Ocean Of Beauty by Earthtones Music & Sheela Bringi THiS SHOW IS A LABOR of LOVE. Episode 163 - Dan Richter

This episode features Jaymee’s conversation with artist Dan Richter—immortalized as Moonwatcher in Stanley Kubrick’s cinematic masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey, a role he not only performed but choreographed while in the grip of heroin addiction. Dan takes us behind the eyes of one of cinema’s most iconic figures and into the astonishing life that followed. From 1969 to 1973, he served as John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s assistant and artistic collaborator—and is credited with taking the iconic cover photograph for Lennon’s first solo album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band. Through Dan’s intimate recollections, we encounter John, Yoko, and Kubrick not as legends, but as people. His extraordinary journey placed him among some of the most influential artists and visionaries of the 20th century, including The Beatles, William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Harry Smith, and Ram Dass—all while Dan emerged as a potent artist in his own right. He also shares the remarkable story of his 42 years of sobriety, which began when John and Yoko created an improvised rehabilitation sanctuary for him inside their home at Tittenhurst Park. For Beatles, Kubrick, and counterculture devotees who think they already know the story: sit back and prepare for your software update. He's  played with legendary artists like Ray Davies, Elliott Smith, Elvis Costello, The Zombies and The Flaming Lips, but what most people don't know about the charismatic frontman is that he's a spiritual giant posing as a householder, who's lived the past 24 years sober on a steady diet of "not knowing". Keith is mentor of Jaymee's, a close friend and music collaborator. The two gentlemen discuss the creative power of humility, the mechanism of mentorship, the miracle of 12 Step Recovery, playing Kinks songs with Ray Davies, and the unlikely book that not only cured his debilitating back pain, but ushered in a revolution of the mind.   Interested in Spiritual Mentorship with Jaymee? email: lacee@loveistheauthor.com to set up a free consultation, or visit: www.loveistheauthor.com/mentorship  LITA PODCAST: hosted, produced, and recorded by Jaymee Carpenter.  SOUND MIX: Chris Faller OPENING SONG: Gangstalean by JJ RAM (Jaymee Carpenter).
