She recounts confronting her abuser, reclaiming her innocence, and discovering a forgiveness that neither excuses the unforgivable nor requires reconciliation. Mother and son read the letters that helped reroute the pain of their family history: hers to the father who violated her trust, and the prophetic letter she later sent Jaymee when addiction had brought him to his knees—a letter that did not shame him into changing, but loved him into remembering who he was. Dan takes us behind the eyes of one of cinema’s most iconic figures and into the astonishing life that followed. From 1969 to 1973, he served as John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s assistant and artistic collaborator—and is credited with taking the iconic cover photograph for Lennon’s first solo album, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band.
