The Lost Mountain Saga: Blood Red Gulch

I don’t know why I had never heard of this show before. I’m currently listening to the new season that just came out, but I started from the beginning too since the other seasons aren’t related, and wow. This group is so fun to listen to and also Elli is a wonderful storyteller. I’m really enjoying how funny and playful they can be while at the same time creepy and haunting. I’m curious about the new season being a new game and setting, but so far Sydney seems like a great DM and I can’t wait to see where the story goes. Everyone should check this out!!!

Excited for aliens

Vaesen is such a great system and this podcast makes it really approachable, entertaining and just overall awesome. 5 star storytelling.

Lost Mountain is always a strange journey and the hosts are refreshingly open about their own experience telling the story. You’re getting a horror podcast, a podcast about exploring darker themes in a fun way, and a podcast about the artists as themselves. The cast is usually quite small - often just a DM and one or two players. That lets them explore the characters experience of each scene and get into their motivations and concerns. It makes the game itself a more intimate and effecting experience. Listening to this has opened up new possibilities for my own game groups; I think we can tell tense, spooky, and fun stories without building up a five player mega campaign. Hearing the creators talk honestly about their ambitions and struggles also makes the experience of running my own sessions feel more manageable. This is a professional production, but they aren’t putting on the guise that it’s all so easy and spotless. No, telling a good story is tough! I’m glad these ladies are putting in the time and effort to tell their story.
