#251 - What If Rejection Is Actually Protecting You From Burnout?

What if the rejection you're so upset about is actually saving you from something you can't see yet? I've been thinking about this A LOT lately. What if some of those opportunities we didn't get were actually giving us room to breathe? What if the timing of our lives is working out better than we realize? In this episode, I'm sharing a story about how I stopped the momentum of one of my early projects, why I still think about that decision, and what I've learned about letting things unfold without trying to control every single outcome. We're talking about: Why rejection might not always be a bad thingThe difference between resting and losing momentumLearning to enjoy life between jobs and contractsHow slowing down helped me meet my husbandWhy you don't have to be the BEST at a job that isn't your dreamSaving your energy for the people and experiences that matter mostAnd yes, I'm giving you permission to be an NPC. 😂 You'll have to hear me out on that one. Because maybe success isn't about giving 100% to EVERYTHING. Maybe it's about knowing what actually deserves your 100%. What's something you didn't get that you're now grateful didn't work out? CHAPTERS: 01:10 Success Without Burnout 01:33 Could Rejection Be Protecting You? 02:35 The Time I Stopped My Own Momentum 04:51 Trusting the Timing of Your Life 05:41 Finding Joy Between Opportunities 07:46 Why I'm Giving You Permission to Be an NPC 09:30 You Don't Have to Be the Best at Every Job 11:18 Save Your Best Energy for What Matters Follow The Salisha Show: https://www.instagram.com/thesalishashow Follow Salisha: https://www.instagram.com/salishathomas/ Episode Recorded at: Gotham Production Studios, Midtown Manhattan Edited by AMPLIFY by Metafit Metamind https://www.metafitmetamind.com You can send fan mail here! @salishathomas @thesalishashow, www.thesalishashow.com Many thanks to Gotham Network in NYC, TyNia Brandon for writing and laying vocals down for the updated theme song and Big Red Studios for the intro video wherever you watch the latest season of The Salisha Show!

#250 - You're Allowed to Rest Without Feeling Guilty with TyNia Brandon

Have you ever been so busy chasing your dreams that you forgot to take care of yourself? Because we've been there.  TyNia Brandon is back, and today we're talking about REST. Not just sleeping in or taking a vacation, but actually giving yourself permission to stop before your body makes that decision for you. TyNia shares how juggling college, pageantry, work and performing left her completely exhausted. And I open up about what happened after my Broadway show closed and I suddenly didn't want to audition for ANYTHING. We're talking about: Why creative people have such a hard time slowing downWhat happens when you ignore your body's needsThe permission to be a whole person outside your careerWhy rest doesn't always mean doing nothingFinding joy in things that don't have to become your jobSometimes the most productive thing you can do is give yourself room to LIVE. When was the last time you rested without feeling like you needed to earn it? #249 - What If Life Is a Game? Here’s How I’m Learning to Play It

What if life is basically one giant game... and we're all figuring out the rules as we go? 😂 I've been thinking A LOT about perception lately. How two people can stand in the exact same place, looking at the exact same thing, and have completely different experiences. I've literally watched it happen on a Broadway stage. In this episode, we're talking about: • The “rules” I think are playing out around us every day • Why I stopped wasting energy trying to prove people wrong • Heaven vs. hell... right here in real life • What Broadway taught me about perspective • Remembering that I once prayed for things I now complain about • How gratitude can completely change the way life FEELS • What it might look like to gamify the hard parts of life Because maybe you don't have to wait until everything is perfect to enjoy your life. Sometimes the script doesn't need to change first. Sometimes you need to change the way you're reading it. Chapters:  01:01 What If Life Is a Game? 01:28 The “Rules” Playing in the Background 05:44 Stop Wasting Energy Trying to Prove People Wrong 07:35 Your Perception Changes Your Reality 08:14 The Broadway Moment That Changed My Perspective 10:24 I Used to Pray for the Life I Have Now 13:02 What Really Matters While We’re Here? #248 - Don’t Settle for Good Enough When You Have Greatness in You

A few episodes ago, I told you sometimes good enough is GOOD ENOUGH. And I meant it. When life is lifin' and you're barely getting through the day? Get to the other side however you need to. But today? That's not where I am.  Time is MOVING, and I've been thinking about how much of it we spend waiting, criticizing ourselves or holding back from things we actually want. In this episode, we're talking about: • When “good enough” really is enough... and when it isn't • How fast life changes while we're busy living it • The prayer I've been saying since I was 7 years old • Being way too critical of the person in the mirror • Learning to appreciate what you have WHILE you have it • Getting honest about what you actually want • Why you can't be another person standing in your own way You get this life right now. Love where you are. Know what you want. And if you've got it in you to go for it... GO. Don't settle for good enough when you have it in your spirit to go for greatness. CHAPTERS:  01:25 When Good Enough Really IS Good Enough 02:05 Why Settle When You Can Go for Great? 02:58 Time Is Moving Whether You’re Ready or Not 05:06 The Prayer I’ve Had Since I Was 7 05:48 Stop Nitpicking the Person in the Mirror 08:43 How Far Could You Actually Go? 09:25 Say What You Want Out Loud Episode Edited by: AMPLIFY by Metafit Metamind You can send fan mail here! @salishathomas @thesalishashow, www.thesalishashow.com Many thanks to Gotham Network in NYC, TyNia Brandon for writing and laying vocals down for the updated theme song and Big Red Studios for the intro video wherever you watch the latest season of The Salisha Show!

    #247 - I’m Done Chasing the Body I Had at 16

A few months ago, I was 200 pounds and VERY pregnant. Now I'm finding my way back to fitness with a completely different body and, honestly, a different perspective. I've cared about being active since the 7th grade. I've run 5Ks before Broadway shows, somehow ran a whole marathon without training (DO NOT recommend 😂), worked with different trainers through different seasons of my career, and then pregnancy changed what my body could do. In this episode, we're talking about: • Where my relationship with fitness actually started • The ridiculous reason I started running in middle school • That time I ran a marathon and then did TWO shows • How pregnancy changed the way I could move • Getting strong again postpartum • Why I'm finally done chasing my teenage body • Finding movement that makes YOU feel good I'm realizing my goal doesn't have to be getting an old version of my body back. I want to feel GOOD in the one I have now. CHAPTERS: 00:56 My Fitness Journey After Pregnancy 01:47 Where My Relationship With Fitness Started 04:36 I Ran a Marathon... #246 - When Good Things End: Learning to Let Go and Keep Going

What happens when something GOOD ends? TyNia Brandon is back with me, and somehow a conversation that started with purpose, freedom and creativity turned into a much bigger conversation about what we carry with us when life changes. We're talking about: • Staying connected to your purpose wherever life takes you • Why your life partner can impact your career more than you realize • The difference between being busy and actually moving the needle • The morning practice that's helped me hear myself more clearly • Why an ending doesn't automatically mean you failed • What Broadway taught both of us about letting go • How the highs AND the lows become part of who you're becoming Some things aren't meant to last forever. That doesn't mean they didn't matter. Maybe you take what they gave you, say thank you... and keep going. As TyNia said "Onward!" CHAPTERS: 01:05 Welcome Back, TyNia Brandon 05:14 Staying Connected to Your Purpose 09:23 Your Life Partner Is a Business Decision 11:18 What Will You Always Protect? 16:21 Productivity vs. Creativity 18:51 Are You Busy or Moving the Needle? 20:40 The Power of Morning Pages 26:15 Why Good Things Have to End 29:34 An Ending Doesn't Mean You Failed 32:56 The Highs and Lows Are Making You Who You Are TyNia's IG @thetybrand You can send fan mail here! @salishathomas @thesalishashow, www.thesalishashow.com Many thanks to Gotham Network in NYC, TyNia Brandon for writing and laying vocals down for the updated theme song and Big Red Studios for the intro video wherever you watch the latest season of The Salisha Show!

BONUS: Your Passion, Your Hobby, or Your Business? with Co-Host TyNia Brandon

What happens when the thing you LOVE starts becoming the thing that pays your bills? TyNia and I started as Broadway performers together. Now somehow we've entered our producer era. 😂 We've produced live shows, created a talent competition, built projects together and turned some of the things we genuinely love doing into actual businesses. But does EVERY passion need to become a business? Absolutely not. In this bonus episode, we're talking about: • How TyNia and I went from Broadway friends to producing together • Knowing the difference between a hobby and something you want to monetize • Why getting paid for your passion changes what's required of you • The discipline and structure that come with turning creativity into a business • Why you still need things you do simply because they bring you JOY • How one random conversation pushed me to start creating outside of Broadway Maybe the goal isn't to make money from everything you love. Maybe it's figuring out which passions you want to build... and which ones you want to keep just for YOU. The episode supports that distinction especially well when TyNia uses pottery as something she loves without wanting deadlines or deliverables attached to it, while Salisha connects monetizing The Salisha Show with consistency, structure, and a publishing schedule.  CHAPTERS01:56 How Did We Get Here? 03:09 From Broadway Friends to Producers 07:26 Should Your Passion Become Your Job? 09:44 What Should Stay a Hobby? 11:31 When Passion Requires Discipline 14:11 Finding an Identity Outside of Your Job 18:13 Did We Announce This?  Follow TyNia on IG! https://www.instagram.com/thetybrand/ You can send fan mail here! @salishathomas @thesalishashow, www.thesalishashow.com Many thanks to Gotham Network in NYC, TyNia Brandon for writing and laying vocals down for the updated theme song and Big Red Studios for the intro video wherever you watch the latest season of The Salisha Show!
