    269. Obsession: "You. Not me."

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Obsession: "You. Not me." Jessica Marie brings Obsession to the podcast this October! Shocking right!? Finding herself dipping toes into the genre, there was no way that she could let Obsession slip past the pod, even though it's scary. Scary on a lot of levels. Nikki isn't happy in her job, wants to write, and needs to experience love to make her story feel authentic. Bear is a loser, who kills his cat, and can't admit his feelings to Nikki when asked point blank. Enter magic. Enter the One Wish Willow. Now you know that at ACOFAE your wishes need to be SPECIFIC - so let's watch as Bear ruins everyone life because of his terrible wish. Wish Nikki's obsession with Bear and his inability to take responsibility for his actions are the horror. Nikki trapped inside herself is the ultimate horror. Not having bodily autonomy is the horror. Cowardly men are the horror. "This is all your fault. You wished for this." 268: Victorian mysteries with Veronica Speedwell: "Plague would be preferable."

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Victorian mysteries with Veronica Speedwell: "Plague would be preferable." The day has come! It's finally happened! After about a year or so of Laura Marie reading about Veronica Speedwell and her adventures, they have made it to the podcast! That's right, ACOFAE is covering its first proper (non-magic/fantasy) woman sleuth and Victorian mystery with A Curious Beginning, a Veronica Speedwell Mystery! Jessica Marie's first time exploring this genre (again without any fantasy element) brings a fantastic new perspective on a genre that sucked in Laura Marie and never let up. Veronica is a free spirit, and with the death of her aunt, she is free to travel and collect butterflies to her heart’s content. That is until two mysterious strangers and circumstances force her to London and into Stoker's orbit. A mystery that has murder, royalty, a traveling show, and more tropes than you can shake a stick at, A Curious Beginning has everything you could want in a mystery and more. 267. Breaking Dawn pt.1: “She’s a fake Virgo.”

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Breaking Dawn pt.1: “She’s a fake Virgo.” It's hoa hoa hoa season and ACOFAE is running out of Twilight movies to watch. In the 2026, Laura Marie and Jessica Marie are tackling Breaking Dawn pt1, and wow the logistics have Laura Marie feeling a kind of way. It wouldn't be the season of ACOFAE wasn't praising movie Charlie and firmly standing behind him as the only movie character with any sense. A wedding, a travel day?, a broken bed, and feathers are the start of a nightmare? that ends with birth, death, and rebirth. A movie that was a time, a place, a vibe, a feeling, join ACOFAE as they watch with fully developed lobes and simply determine that this could be a lot easier if all three of the main characters just went to Paris. 265: Laura's Half Birthday episode: Starship Troopers.

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Laura's Half Birthday episode: Starship Troopers. It's Laura Marie's half birthday which means that she's making Jessica Marie watch a movie that she would never usually watch, Starship Troopers. A movie that is not supposed to be taken serious, but was when it was released, Starship Troopers follows a group of high-school? friends as they join the military and begin their indoctrination. Following the destruction of their home city, Johnny Rico and his pals double down on their militaristic ways and work together to capture a suspicious looking brain bug. A movie full of messages, slime, and special effects that look incredible now, Starship Troopers is worth a look with adult eyes. "I'm doing my part." 263: Mockingjay Part 2: "Pop, pop, POP!"

ACOFAE Podcast Presents: Mockingjay Part 2: "Pop, pop, POP!" ACOFAE is closing it's circles and finishing the last movie in the OG Hunger Games franchise, Mockingjay Pt 2. The epic(?) conclusion finds Katniss in and out and in and out of the medical bay, Gale talking about bombs, and Peeta struggling with what is and isn't real in the worst places possible. Filled with Gale saying dumb things, characters dying, and Katniss realizing how to actually play the game, Mockingjay Pt 2 has an epilogue that Laura Marie hates, and sets the stage for Haymitch's book in a way that will make you read that, then come back to this over and over again. "Woo woo woo WOO."
