Tatum's MVP Takeover, Celtics' Center Crisis & Mike Goes Nuclear

Jayson Tatum is playing like an MVP, the Celtics have won five straight, and Jim and Mike have plenty to say about what's working — and what's definitely NOT. The brothers break down Boston's gritty win in Orlando, Tatum's incredible start, Paul George's resurgence, and why the Celtics' center rotation is earning some ugly grades. Is it time to shake up the starting lineup? Should Sam Hauser be starting? Plus, injuries are turning the NBA upside down, the Western Conference is wide open, and Mike goes absolutely nuclear during World Views over the ugly rhetoric surrounding the Michigan Senate race. Oh, and Moonshine makes another appearance. Unfiltered Celtics basketball, NBA arguments, and the usual nonsense. They're Gonna Call It a Hard Foul — with Jim and Mike Quigley. Tatum Takes Over, Jaylen Brown Drama & James Dolan's Ring Fiasco

The Celtics are two games into the season, and we've already got a blown 20-point lead, a huge win over the Knicks, a Jayson Tatum takeover, and enough drama to fill an entire season. Jim and Mike Quigley are back with a wild episode of They're Gonna Call It a Hard Foul! 🏀 Tatum Takes Over: After a rough opener in Detroit, Tatum reminds everyone why he's an MVP candidate with a dominant performance against New York. ☘️ Celtics Concerns: Where's the offensive rebounding? Is Joe Mazzulla starting the wrong five? And why isn't Hugo getting more minutes? 🔥 Tatum vs. Jaylen Brown: The drama just keeps getting weirder. Are these two officially done with each other? And what kind of reception should Brown expect when he returns to Boston? 💍 James Dolan's Ring Fiasco: Knicks employees get empty championship-ring boxes and a fake ring-selection email that turns into cybersecurity training. You seriously can't make this stuff up. 👀 Around the NBA: The Pistons and Sixers are rolling, the Knicks have problems, and the Magic might need to blow it up. 🎙️ And Then Things Go Completely Off the Rails: LeBron, Trump, Adam Silver, NBA betting controversies, Shams Charania, and a brotherly argument about Massachusetts politics. It's basketball analysis, ridiculous stories, strong opinions, and absolutely no filter. They're Gonna Call It a Hard Foul! — Part of the Fan First Sports Network. Learn more about your ad choices. Brad's Masterclass: Pritchard's Steal of a Deal & Boston's New Identity

Brad Stevens strikes again! Payton Pritchard gets paid, Jayson Tatum looks like an MVP candidate, and the Celtics might be a whole lot better than we expected. Jim and Mike break down Pritchard's new deal, Boston's emerging rotation, the young players stepping up, and a new style of basketball built around defense, offensive rebounding, and creating extra possessions. Could this team finish as a top-two seed in the East? Plus, around the NBA: Are the Knicks already screwing up their championship window? Is Ben Simmons actually back? Is LeBron's helicopter arrangement another example of the NBA's salary cap problems? Has Adam Silver lost control of the league? All that, some brotherly arguments, and plenty of hard fouls. New Era in Boston?

The Celtics are back — well, sort of. Media Day is here, training camp is underway, and Jim and Mike break down the biggest storylines heading into the new season. Is this truly the beginning of a “new era” for Jayson Tatum and the Celtics? How much can Boston count on Paul George? Which of the Celtics’ young players is ready to make the leap? What happens with Payton Pritchard’s next contract? And could winning the possession battle — not three-point shooting — become the defining feature of this team? Plus, we dig into Pablo Torre’s latest investigation into Life Surge, the athletes and celebrities who appeared at its events, and the questions surrounding Joe Mazzulla’s involvement. Are Billionaires Breaking the NBA?

The NBA season is almost here, and Jim and Mike are officially done with the offseason nonsense. We start with the Celtics taking a flier on former lottery pick Devin Carter and what his addition says about Boston’s offseason philosophy: create extra possessions, attack the glass, force turnovers and give Jayson Tatum more chances to win basketball games. Then things go off the rails. We get into the fallout from the Kawhi Leonard/Steve Ballmer mess, why watching a billionaire actually face consequences is strangely satisfying, Robert Kraft’s selective approach to free speech, and a much bigger question hanging over the NBA: Are billionaire owners and private equity starting to become a problem for the league itself? Plus: Paul George’s importance to the Celtics, what we actually want to see when basketball finally starts, and an early over/under on how many games PG actually plays. Basketball is almost back. Thank God. They’re Gonna Call It a Hard Foul — part of the Fan First Sports Network. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

    Clippers Chaos Is Celtics Gold?

We’re finally back, and apparently we picked a hell of a week to return. Jim and Mike dig into the fallout from the Clippers’ cap-circumvention scandal, the massive punishment the NBA handed down, and what the whole mess says about league insiders, access journalism, and how the NBA does business. Then we return to the Celtics. How much more valuable is Boston’s 2028 Clippers pick now? What will the offense look like with Jayson Tatum back at the center of the action? Could Payton Pritchard take another leap? Which other Celtics have the most room to grow this season? Plus, the NBA schedule, a much deeper Eastern Conference, and an old-school basketball question: are today’s point guards really better, or are we forgetting just how damn good the previous generations were? The NBA is almost back. So are we. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

They also debate whether Paul George can still make an impact, whether Derrick White can bounce back offensively, and what Payton Pritchard's next step looks like.
