The Silt Verses

In this horror/fantasy serial drama, Carpenter and Faulkner, two worshippers of an outlawed god, travel up the length of their deity’s great black river, searching for holy revelations. As their pilgrimage lengthens and the river’s mysteries deepen, the two acolytes find themselves under threat from a police manhunt, but also come into conflict with the weirder gods that have flourished in these forgotten rural territories. Next episode drops 3rd June. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Top tier writing, characters, world building, direction, & acting. The sound design is well executed, except, for the execution of a small percentage of God creature sound design in early chapters. By S3., the sound design is consistently excellent and enveloping. Scoring is minimal, which is a bit curious however, the way music is used is impactful, moving the plot forward. This review is revised from an earlier draft with it’s quibbles. The Silt Verses joins a small coterie of the greatest original Cosmic Horror podcasts, (i.e. The Magnus Archives, The White Vault, & Night Vale) 5 enthusiastic stars .

One of the joys of this podcast is hearing the actors, production, and writing absolutely take flight and leave no crumbs especially by the 2nd season. The acting in the 3rd season gave me chills constantly. Content: Truly horrifying. Finally a drama that is horrible while still preserving human dignity, which means you really know how horrible it really is. The fictional mythology is stunning, gut wrenching, and most fascinating of all, believable. The characters are so real. Each character behaves exactly like themselves, and all of us know someone just like each of them in real life. I am 2 episodes from the end of season 3 and I expect to cry. Thank you, Silt Verses.

Finally, intelligent and thoughtful writing that isn’t pretentious! I found this podcast and am obsessed. Very unique perspective on politics, religion, ego, humanity, just wow-HIGHLY recommend. Not for casual listening, it’s poetry at times, with searing messages and believable characters. Super impressive plz give it a shot
