Her love for handpainted dinnerware started after a trip to the Amalfi coast with her mother and sister in 1983 - and when they returned home, they built Vietri to share this beautiful craft. Vietri has since become the largest importer of Italian ceramics in the US. To celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary, Susan has written a memoir and cookbook: Italy on a Plate: Travels, Memories, Menus, and in this episode, we chat about her book, the friendships and partnerships in Italy that have made Veitri so successful, the parallels between Italian and Southern hospitality, and more!
