June 14, 2026. Gospel: Luke 15:1-10. Third Sunday after Pentecost.

1 Now the publicans and sinners drew near unto him to hear him. 2 And the Pharisees and the scribes murmured, saying: This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. 3 And he spoke to them this parable, saying: Et ait ad illos parabolam istam dicens :  4 What man of you that hath an hundred sheep: and if he shall lose one of them, doth he not leave the ninety-nine in the desert, and go after that which was lost, until he find it? 5 And when he hath found it, lay it upon his shoulders, rejoicing: Et cum invenerit eam, imponit in humeros suos gaudens :  6 And coming home, call together his friends and neighbours, saying to them: Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep that was lost? et veniens domum convocat amicos et vicinos, dicens illis : Congratulamini mihi, quia inveni ovem meam, quae perierat.  7 I say to you, that even so there shall be joy in heaven upon one sinner that doth penance, more than upon ninety-nine just who need not penance. 8 Or what woman having ten groats; if she lose one groat, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently until she find it? 9 And when she hath found it, call together her friends and neighbours, saying: Rejoice with me, because I have found the groat which I had lost. 10 So I say to you, there shall be joy before the angels of God upon one sinner doing penance. Ita, dico vobis, gaudium erit coram angelis Dei super uno peccatore poenitentiam agente. [10] "Before the angels": By this it is plain that the spirits in heaven have a concern for us below, and a joy at our repentance and consequently a knowledge of it.

June 13, 2026. Gospel: Matt 5:13-19. St Anthony of Padua, Confessor, Doctor of the Church

13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. Vos estis sal terrae. 14 You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. Vos estis lux mundi. Non potest civitas abscondi supra montem posita,  15 Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house. neque accedunt lucernam, et ponunt eam sub modio, sed super candelabrum, ut luceat omnibus qui in domo sunt.  16 So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. 17 Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. 18 For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled. Amen quippe dico vobis, donec transeat caelum et terra, jota unum aut unus apex non praeteribit a lege, donec omnia fiant.  19 He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. [17] "To fulfill": By accomplishing all the figures and prophecies; and perfecting all that was imperfect. [18] "Amen": That is, assuredly of a truth. This Hebrew word, amen, is here retained by the example and authority of all the four Evangelists. It is used by our Lord as a strong asseveration, and affirmation of the truth.

June 12, 2026. Gospel: John 19:31-37. Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

31 Then the Jews, (because it was the parasceve,) that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath day, (for that was a great sabbath day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 32 The soldiers therefore came; and they broke the legs of the first, and of the other that was crucified with him. Venerunt ergo milites : et primi quidem fregerunt crura, et alterius, qui crucifixus est cum eo.  33 But after they were come to Jesus, when they saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. Ad Jesum autem cum venissent, ut viderunt eum jam mortuum, non fregerunt ejus crura,  34 But one of the soldiers with a spear opened his side, and immediately there came out blood and water. sed unus militum lancea latus ejus aperuit, et continuo exivit sanguis et aqua.  35 And he that saw it, hath given testimony, and his testimony is true. And he knoweth that he saith true; that you also may believe. 36 For these things were done, that the scripture might be fulfilled: You shall not break a bone of him. And again another scripture saith: They shall look on him whom they pierced. Et iterum alia Scriptura dicit : Videbunt in quem transfixerunt. The Sacred Heart of our Lord is opened on the Cross by the soldier's lance to manifest to us His love.

June 10, 2026. Gospel: Matt 13:44-52. St Margaret-Queen of Scotland, Widow

44 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a treasure hidden in a field. Which a man having found, hid it, and for joy thereof goeth, and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. 45 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a merchant seeking good pearls. Iterum simile est regnum caelorum homini negotiatori, quaerenti bonas margaritas.  46 Who when he had found one pearl of great price, went his way, and sold all that he had, and bought it. 47 Again the kingdom of heaven is like to a net cast into the sea, and gathering together of all kind of fishes. 48 Which, when it was filled, they drew out, and sitting by the shore, they chose out the good into vessels, but the bad they cast forth. 49 So shall it be at the end of the world. The angels shall go out, and shall separate the wicked from among the just. Sic erit in consummatione saeculi : exibunt angeli, et separabunt malos de medio justorum,  50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. et mittent eos in caminum ignis : ibi erit fletus, et stridor dentium.  51 Have ye understood all these things? They say to him: Yes. Intellexistis haec omnia? Dicunt ei : Etiam.  52 He said unto them: Therefore every scribe instructed in the kingdom of heaven, is like to a man that is a householder, who bringeth forth out of his treasure new things and old. Margaret was born in Hungary, though the Saxon royal stock and was married to Malcom III, King of Scotland. Her long reign of thirty years was illustrious for her inexhaustible charity to the poor. She died A.D. 1093 and is honoured among the Patrons of Scotland.

June 9, 2026. Gospel: Matt 11:25-30. Ss Primus and Felician, Martyrs

25 At that time Jesus answered and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to the little ones. In illo tempore respondens Jesus dixit : Confiteor tibi, Pater, Domine caeli et terrae, quia abscondisti haec a sapientibus, et prudentibus, et revelasti ea parvulis.  26 Yea, Father; for so hath it seemed good in thy sight. Ita Pater : quoniam sic fuit placitum ante te.  27 All things are delivered to me by my Father. And no one knoweth the Son, but the Father: neither doth any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom it shall please the Son to reveal him. 28 Come to me, all you that labour, and are burdened, and I will refresh you. 29 Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls. Tollite jugum meum super vos, et discite a me, quia mitis sum, et humilis corde : et invenietis requiem animabus vestris.  30 For my yoke is sweet and my burden light. Primus and Felician were brothers. After suffering the most cruel torments for the Faith, they were beheaded at Rome. A.D. 286.

June 8, 2026. Gospel: Luke 14:16-24. Feria Within the Octave

16 But he said to him: A certain man made a great supper, and invited many. At ipse dixit ei : Homo quidam fecit coenam magnam, et vocavit multos.  17 And he sent his servant at the hour of supper to say to them that were invited, that they should come, for now all things are ready. 18 And they began all at once to make excuse. The first said to him: I have bought a farm, and I must needs go out and see it: I pray thee, hold me excused. 19 And another said: I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to try them: I pray thee, hold me excused. Et alter dixit : Juga boum emi quinque, et eo probare illa : rogo te, habe me excusatum.  20 And another said: I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. 21 And the servant returning, told these things to his lord. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant: Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the feeble, and the blind, and the lame. 22 And the servant said: Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23 And the Lord said to the servant: Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 But I say unto you, that none of those men that were invited, shall taste of my supper.
